More Streaming Remains Key to High-Res Audio Success

I like this quote from a Onkyo company executive regarding MQA "
“People are hearing a difference,” said Kevin Brannan, director of marketing at Onkyo USA, " Well what in the heck did anyone expect him to say, Ah we couldn't hear a difference but Onkyo is going to market the product anyway. I don't think he would shoot his investment.

I don't think they would have made the investment if they couldn't hear the difference.

From the article:
MQA can also be used for mastering, but “we’re not looking at that right now,” just the “transport solution,” [UMG] said.

I'm surprised by this. If he means skipping the MQA corrections to mastering / ADC, then this approach removes a significant part of the potential MQA sonic benefits, resulting in a lower bitrate but not better audio quality over conventional hi-res.

If studios do this, it'd fuel the criticisms against the significance of MQA LED that supposedly shows a music is "signed off by studio".
