Milton

My beloved AMI got walloped good with Helene, Milton could be utter devastation. Hopes and prayers for all !

The eye of this storm is going to be coming right over my house, and it's now predicted hitting the coast as a Cat 4. We're supposed to see wind gusts as high as 100+ mph here in Winter Haven. I have to be honest, I'm quite worried about this one.

The morning after Milton has arrived. I did a quick tour of the yard and house in the dark with a flashlight. Other than a continuing power outage and some minor yard debris we have emerged unscathed. The Tampa area did not take a direct hit so there was no storm surge, only wind and rain. Lucky to have dodged a bullet. Hoping Mike and team in Sarasota were as fortunate. The anxiety while we waited for the storm was worse than the actual event. Will need some aural therapy today.

Good to hear that people did OK. It was a strange storm. I'm near the central east coast (about 5-6 miles in a straight line to the ocean). Nothing horrible right near me. A tornado did cause some damage in Cocoa Beach (near the ocean).

My power went out just after 7pm the night of the storm. I just got power and cell service back a few hours ago. For over 48 hours, I had neither.

On the bright side, there was no damage to the house. Just a bunch of fallen limbs everywhere.

Also, one of my brothers came over to ride out the storm with me. He didn't want me to be alone. So that was nice.
