Today is a day to remember all the people who died serving this great nation.

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

Indeed, it is a sombre day. A day to reflect on the great courage and patriotism of not only men and women of the Armed services who paid the ultimate price serving their Country, but the brave emergency services officers who fought to save lives in tragedies like 9/11. When I visit the States in the future, I plan on visiting Arlington National Cemetery and the National September 11 memorial in NY. I would encourage everyone else who is able to do the same atleast once in their life. Similarly I recommend visiting the National War Memorial in Canberra if you ever come to Australia.

David reminds me that we celebrate here in the USA but we should remember all the men and women of every Nation who have given life and limb for freedom. Our great country has had some tremendous Allies by our side. It is hard to fathom making such sacrifice for others. We are so fortunate. Thanks to all.

I have been fortunate to be able to attend Memorial Day Ceremonies at Arlington when I was about 13, at the American Cemetery in Flanders Field in 1998, and at the American Cemetery at Omaha Beech in 2013. Stirring moments that I shall never forget. We were scheduled for the ceremonies at Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial in 1999 but had a conflict at the last minute.

Great post Paul!
