Was going to buy some McIntosh teeshirts. Looks like they quit selling them too. Looks like they're thinning the herd.. Wonder if Bose is making them do that ?
McIntosh website now lists products they have retired.

I’ve never seen McIntosh discontinue so many products at one time. Especially now there are no high power tube amps in the lineup with the MC 2301 and MC 3500 on the way out. Even the MC 1502 is a goner and it’s just a kid, what, maybe 5 YO?
I wonder if McIntosh is having problems securing enough power tubes? 8 in the 2301 and 1502. Single source ones for the 3500. 4 in the MC 275. Dunno.
The SS lineup is still together as are the integrated amplifiers. The integration products seem to be unaffected as well. Apart from the in-wall speakers, which were not competitive.
I do think there has been a proliferation of products in the past 5 years. For example mashups of existing designs like a couple of monobloc amps having tube HF and SS LF sections and a crossover. No real engineering to do on that one. Just repackage what you’ve already designed.
Some of the culling is warranted. McIntosh has too many 2 channel preamps, so discontinuing the C8 and C48 makes sense. The MDA200 D/A converter is pretty much a nothing burger with a D/A2 module. Tuners are dead, I wonder how many MR 89’s they actually sold.
My experience with acquisitions is that big changes come 6 months and 18 months post acquisition. In this case 6 months saw the distribution strategy change, and now a little behind schedule we see the product rationalization.
