After 25 years, I buy my second McIntosh piece. Many years ago it was Preamp this time an integrated Amp/receiver. I didn't keep the preamp for that whole time. I have never heard the MA6700 but I have heard the 452 and the 100w integrated. I like them both for different reasons and the MA6700 seemed like the right choice for me. I am excited and wanted to solicit comments/opinions about the piece from those more familiar with the recent McIntosh gear. I was really looking for a basic integrated with 200w nominal 8ohm rating. The DAC, phono, etc. are bonuses.

It seems like the "Swiss Army knife" of amps and is definitely the "goldilocks" choice for me. Two sources (will be 3 when I get another TT): Mac Mini Oppo 105 both heavily modified. I'll be able to compare the Oppo DAC performance against the Onboard one. The Phono won't be used just because of the source component proximity. Speakers - Fritz Carbon SE, Audioquest Oak spk cable and AQ columbia, and coffee interconnects.

Congrats!! A real beauty.

I love the McIntosh gear too. I really can't explain why it has been off the menu for so long.

That's a great looking pic! I'll post some impressions. Anyone know what the fundamental break-in range is quoted. I love that it runs at a cool temp. - that feature opens more portions than some of my other considerations.

100-200 hours for my Dad's. But after 100, pretty much smooth sailing.
