Would anybody know the differences with the McIntosh 352 which I have and the 302? A guy was telling me last night the 302 is better. Of course this is the same guy some months ago trying to sell me a 2300 to replace my 2200 then I noticed he was selling a 2200 on audiogon and stated how the 2200 is preferred by many over the 2300......

If I'm not mistaken, the 302 is the newer of the two, despite having 50 less watts. The newer line (302, 452, 601) are said to be 'faster' while still maintaining the traditional Mac midrange. Most have said they liked this newer sound more. Hope this helps.

If cost is a factor, I believe the MC352 is a much better value. I did a double take when I found out the retail cost of the 302. I'm sure not everyone would agree, but if I'm buying new I'd save up the extra $2k for the 452.

Big plus 1. The 452 is really good. I owned the 302, 352 and 402 and the 452 has the new Mc sonic signature which I like - a lot. Faster, a little more forward without being bright.

Mike, having owned the 302 and the 352 would you say there's a substantial difference, somewhat of a difference between the two?
keeping in mind what is being said about the 452 I tend to agree, although having horn speakers I don't need a lot of power

Truthfully, its not enough to worry about. 50 watts MIGHT equate to 1-2db more FWIW - depending on your speakers, you may wish to find an amp that doubles down into a 4 ohm load....or save your pennies for a 452 or even pair of 601's! :D

+1 not aure about MC452 but my MC601 has the new Quad Balance design.

The MC 452 is a great amp. I am sure it's basically a lower power stereo version of the MC601s. Bruce is using the MC 452 on his Studio2 speakers with the Ref 5se. It sounds great, so good in fact that I ordered the Studio2 after I heard his.

Worthy praise...
