Ok so I cant get the amp to power up and it looks pretty hammered.

1. Used output from a modern ditial amp to the RCA input on the 2100.
2. Plunged speaker in
3. set to mono
4. plugged the output RCA from digital amp to 2100 RCA jack.

Jaycrazy.......Did you check the fuse? The MC2100 also has two thermal cut-out devices on the incoming power before the power transformer. If either of those are open the amplifier will not power on. There is no power switch on the MC2100. If your serial number is below 99W26 there is a second fuse inside before the power transformer that may be blown. The MC2100 was manufactured between 1969 through 1978. That means the amplifier is at least 38 years old and could be as old as 47 years. I would not energize an amplifier that old straight from the 120 wall outlet. It is much safer to bring the power up slowly using a Variac transformer. Even if you can manage to get the amplifier working, it will most likely need to be recapped. The aging capacitors will be dried out and way out of value or perhaps even shorted.

Here is a link to the MC2100 service information: . http://www.acousticpsychos.com/Files/McIntosh/MC2100.pdf

i had an offer of $300 I have no chance to fix this on my own. the main fuse was replaced and no fire. I did not look inside but considering passing it on to a guy who does know.

serial 29W64

Jaycrazy.......That's probably the best thing to do, let someone have the MC2100 who knows how to repair it.
