I've been lazy about trying this combination out and have the driver installed in my Window 10 Surface Pro 3.

I have the updated USB.

I finally plugged it in to try it out. MCD1100 is not being detected.

AT32UC3A DFU pops up in Device Manager and I get the driver not installed error against it.

No McIntosh Device in Playback Devices for selection as a result.

Machine is up to date.

I'm thinking it's some sort of device driver issue with Windows 10. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the McIntosh V2 driver.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Steve,

I'm no expert on this computer stuff but I think it's entirely possible that the McIntosh V2 driver does not work with Windows 10. This is the precise reason why I've never updated my Mac Mini's software to either Yosemite or El Capitan. Hopefully, someone with more experience with Windows 10 and McIntosh DACs will respond.

Best of luck,
Ken

I'd contact McIntosh directly. 99% of Issues I read about on forums are operator error*, but in the chance case it's not, it's best to discuss with the experts. At least, make them aware and work with you for a resolution.

in lieu of that..

  • What other computer equipment works now via USB?
  • With the driver installed: Power off the MCD1100 and then SFP3, power on the MCD1100 then the SFP3, Load JRiver, select the appropriate output, and press play.
  • Put on some records, you've got some great gear and at least they work well. ;)

Good Luck,
Bill

*Not saying you are doing it wrong, there are all sorts of issues that are outside our control with regard to computers and Stereo equipment. It will work, one day.

I don't have a MCD1100 so my input may not be helpful, however I did use my Surface Pro 3 through the McIntosh driver to the MXA70 using Windows 10. I know their directions were not 100% correct.

The most important point for me was after installing the McIntosh USB driver to make sure to select it within JRiver. Tools->Options->Audion Device->McIntosh[ASIO]

I am now using the Teac DAC. I left the McIntosh driver installed when I installed the Teac USB Drvier. Within the JRiver settings I simply pick the Teac. If I were to ever run straight into the McIntosh I would select the McIntosh driver instead.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks Randy, but the driver is not selectable b/c there is a device driver error. I have no issue with other USB driver selections on Windows 10 eg. iFi USB DACs.

I have some Dell Precisions Win7 & Win10 which I will try out this week.

Ok, didn't think it would be but wanted to make sure. I assume you have re-downloaded driver from McIntosh and verified if there is a firmware update from your particular unit. Of course uninstalled and removed the current driver and re-install. It is rare but sometimes drivers flake out during install.

Yep, done all of that. My MCD1100 was sent off for the upgrade when it became available. There shouldn't be any problem with the unit itself.
