I know this album has been out for a year now, but I downloaded the high res version from HDTracks last night. I've played the album three times now. The title track is one of my favorites. The album is classic Knopfler, dark in nature. Excellent electric and acoustic guitar like on the opening track. SQ is excellent - it's a pity all recordings can't be at this level (note Adele's recording engineer/producer). It's so nice to have a recording where no end of the spectrum is bumped up (too much bass, too bright sounding).

Knopfler demonstrates his exceptional abilities as a singer, song writer and guitar player.

+1

MK being one of my all time favorite artists, I of course bought the original Privateering CD instantly. The digital high-rez was available on Linn shortly after, but of course living in the States prohibited me from getting it. :( When it showed up on HD tracks I bought it immediately of course. now I can wait and buy it a 3rd time on DSD. :disbelief:

Don't forget the vinyl version... :)

Funny you mention the vinyl... The first CD version I bought was the special package with poster, vinyl, CD, etc. I sold the vinyl version. Heaven help me if I start buying vinyl again.

Just saw this in my inbox this morning from hdtracks, definitely on the radar

Agreed mark is one of my all time favorites and has been around and making music forever.
I don't have this album but I'd love to get it. Years ago while trying to learn sultans of swing on guitar , I stumbled upon an article of how he was taking about Chet Atkins being his idol and how he has influenced all his music and songwriting. Was a great article , I'm guessing it was in a guitar magazine but I dont remember.
Great now I need to add this to my must have list. Its getting big Lol!!!

Allen, I haven't bought a cd or downloaded any digital files since I got my turntable. :)
