Thanks Mike. To elaborate more, the placement of speakers to listening area is about 3m (the short edge). Today I had a audition of s1 mk1, very impressed by the big sound it produces. Very revealing and a lot of details. Very exciting speakers. Will have a listen to s1 mk2 and s3 soonkimurastanley - hi :hey: I think you can go with either one. Your room is quite narrow, but either will work. I think (just a guess) the S3 mk2 is coming soon....so you could wait? But given the width of the room...I'm THINKING the S1 mk2 might be the better way to go since a two way is usually easier to integrate into more narrow rooms.
I think both could work fine. With that said, if your budget wont stretch as far as the future S3 Mk2's, having heard both speakers I would choose the S1 Mk2's hands down. I've heard them in a larger room (approx 4.5m x 7m) pressurize the room & sound amazing! The Mk2's are a HUGE improvement over the S1 Mk1, and imho are better than the S3's.My living room is about 3.5m x 6m. Speakers will be placed in living room.
Need opinion whether s1 mk2 or s3 is better in the listening area? Considering there is no mk2 version of s3, would this be disadvantage as s1 mk2 has new tweeter. Thanks l

Hello. Welcome. I think 40cm (15.748 inches) should be ok for S1 mk2. The sealed cabinet helps a lot with close wall proximity placement
Hi guys;
As I can see many of you have a first hand experience with the S1mkII which is the LS I'm kind of really interested in. Setup I'm currently using or primarily speakers are Usher Mini Dancer DMD2 driven by ARC Ref75 and ModWright LS36.5DM.
As I just don't have an option to demo the speakers in person I'm trying to get the bits and pieces of info from all the available resources. Main concern I have is the room or actually placement of the LS as based on what I've read they need quite a lot of space around them to sound their best. In order not to get divorced, placement of current ones is quite close to the rear wall (30-40cm max) and this is the position where S1 would also need to be placed. Size of the room is app. around 20sqm.
Would you believe this would be sufficient or not in order for them to play their best/close to best? I'm aware it's very very difficult to give the answer but still I believe it's better to ask
Any suggestion/information from your side would be more than welcome and much appreciated!!
Cheers;
G
Thought this new review of the Magico S1 MkII from Hi-Fi Plus would be of interest here.
