I received this emailed response from Magico fyi...

"The MPods can be placed under any speakers or front end equipment you would like. However they were not designed with the S5 specifically in mind, as the diameter of the MPod is larger than the width of the S5 leg, so the MPods will extend out a bit further. The thread size is the same on the MPod as it is on the S5 spike. Alternatively they can also be utilized without the threaded stud with a speaker or amplifier simply seated on top of them. Thank you for your inquiry."

Just curious. Would my Qsub benefit using MPods?

Tan - it's funny you bring this up. I asked this question yesterday. Magico indicated that they had not yet tried the MPOD's under the QSubs. I'm curious about it myself.

:) The opposing subs might cancel most of vibrations but this is the sport of margins.

From Magico: "The MPOD will thread directly into the QSUB15 and of course isolate the QSUB from the floor and vice a versa."

Nice, now who is going to try it first and report if it is a sonic upgrade.... :)

I really think Magico should adapt the MPods for the S5 & S3 Mk2. Why leave owners to use either MPods which are not properly optimized for size or weight, or Stillpoints which Magico strongly recommend against using? It doesn't make sense! :doubtful:

It looks to me that in order to fit the MPODs to the smaller footers of the S5 Mk2 and S3 Mk2 Magico would need to do the same thing they did for the M3 - create an integrated stand to be added to the base of the speakers to accommodate 3 or 4 MPODs. The cost would have to be at least $10,000 per set based on the setup for the M3's if they stay with the 3 pods per speaker, $12,000 if they use 4 pods per speaker. I wonder how many S3/S5 owners would spend that much for the upgrade and consequently whether it would be worth Magico's R&D efforts to create them.

Howard, I don't think Magico would need to design a special 3 point outrigger to enable MPods to be adapted to the S3 & S5 Mk2 since they already have integrated outriggers. Also I know of several MPro and S7 owners who either have fitted, or are in the process of ordering a set of 4 MPods using the existing thread mountings which is fine as they're a perfect match for size & in the ballpark re: weight. Yes, atleast as far as the M3's are concerned, obviously Alon thought a 3-point outrigger employing the current MPods worked best, but the MPods could work well with the S3/S5 Mk2 if optimized for size and weight. My point being, if Magico are so effusive about not using Stillpoints supports with those speakers, why not offer a better alternative?

The larger Magico speakers have really big feet - below the S7/MPro sized speakers the feet are much smaller and to my eye wouldn't accommodate the MPODs.

Hence my suggestion to adapt the MPods per the size and weight requirements of the S3/S5 Mk2's in a 4-foot configuration using the existing mounting points.

My feeling is that the MPODs need to be the size they are - Magico was never able to modify the QPODs to work as well as they wanted with the weight of their speakers. And even if they could, it would still be quite expensive for 4 SPOD footers per speaker without an integrated stand (I'd be surprised if they were less than $8,000 per set) relative to the price of the speakers themselves. Again, I doubt it's worth Magico's R&D time but I'm only speculating here.

Howard, if Magico release SPods tomorrow @$8k, my order will be placed by dinner time! :yahoo1:
