Magico Announces the A3 Loudspeaker

Does anyone have any opinions/comparisons between the A3 and a used S1 Mk2? It seems the used pricing on the S1 Mk2s are close to the new pricing on the A3. I am curious if the A3 compares well with or even exceeds the sound quality of the S1 due to newer technologies.

Thanks!

This looks like the A3 tweeter to me.

People have been asking and asking for another Magico stand mount. IF this is one (and I don’t know), I hope those who wanted one step up to the plate!

Whatever it is, it’s exciting!

Mike, if it is an A series stand mount, I am happy to take the Munich demo pair off Alon’s hands [emoji3].

Looks to me like a cut down version of the A3. My guess...just a guess. Same tweeter as the A3 with a 7" mid/sub driver and adjusted or new crossover. A two way speaker that will be under $10K not including stands. Paired with twin Magico subs just over $50K. ;)

I have the A3 and S1 MkII set up right next to each other. The short answer is that the S1 MkII midrange and treble are both better than the A3, but the A3 plays lower.

I've heard both, but not side by side. My 'guess' from memory was that there is more bass out of the A3's. The S1 Mk2's were lovely, but did not provide the bass I wanted. I ordered the A3's, as anything further up the range was out of the budget at the time.

Simple arithmetic tells me the twin Magico subs = $50K - $10K = $40K divide by 2 = $20K for one sub, which is what?
