Magico Announces the A3 Loudspeaker

[FONT=&quot]very enjoyable day today listening to some nice a3 , worth travelling 5 hours to hear . beautifully clear and yet not fatiguing at all . really open sound which i actually almost preferred to the s3 playing upstairs . the black finish may not be to everyones taste but certainly these are small enough to go in the average front room in uk as sealed box . extremely heavy though . it was good to meet alon wolf the designer of this brand and fairplay to him for bringing such a quality product which costs less than most of the preamplifiers in the shop !! [FONT=&quot]it was playing with some serious dcs gear

not bad , i was not in the sweetspot but it was very enjoyable and sense of space . alon used a file for most of recordings and only had a cd at the end so it would have been even better with cd throughout . i could certainly imagine myself in a concert hall

Really looking forward to the new center channel. My HT upgrade path for 2018 is a new center, and then the A3s. Since the HT is also a spare stereo, I want to move my Lumin S1 into it. That means I am waiting for the next gen Lumin for the stereo.

I wonder if the new 10% tariff on aluminium imported to the US is going to have flow-on affect to A3 pricing? From what I understand, A3 is built from mass produced pre-fabricated aluminium components sourced from outside the US.

I was thinking exactly the same....

It’s sourced from INSIDE the U.S.

Out of curiosity, why would you think the A3 uses aluminum components from outside the US? Magico is proud of their ability to machine aluminum into any thing they want. Other than the raw aluminum billets I think they build everything they need from that. Not sure about the drivers.

Bud

I think his point was related to the tariff on the raw aluminum if sourced from a tariff affected country. He was not questioning their ability to machine it once they are in possession.

Magico don't manufacture the A3 aluminium cabinet components, a contractor does it. I read an interview with Alon and I was to understand the cabinet components get manufactured outside the US and then assembled by Magico. If however the cabinet components are manufactured in the US, and the contractor sources that aluminium from a tariff affected country, then a price rise might be indicated.
