Magico Announces the A3 Loudspeaker

Standard Magico Thread size. SPODS will work.

I looked at three different sites that list thread sizes for many manufacturers. One had over 70 listings. Not one listed Magico. I do not know what the Magico standard is and I do not have SPODS. I have GAIA II. I assume one of the three thread sizes supplied will work but I was curious to know which one. I hope Magico does not use something proprietary. Not finding them listed gives me concern. :|

While the Gaia IIs are great (I use a set with my speakers and can't think of taking it out), I would shell out the extra and get the SPODs if you believe that footers can do subtle wonders. The Magicos aren't very traditional design, so I am inclined to think that their footers might probably work better with their speakers and have more ROI.

What is the MSRP on SPODS?

I just found out 1/2" x 13 adapters are available for GAIAs. There are many adapter sizes for GAIAs in addition to the standard sizes supplied.

I absolutely love those binding post's. I had them on my diy speakers. They are a lot bigger than they look. And so easy to work with. I am sure the speakers sound incredible.

I am in the market for a pair of speakers.
I came across the Magico, in particular the A3. I had the chance to listen to the A3, holy sweet mother :exciting:
The A3 made me seriously to think of the S3 MKII.

Can any of Magico experts/fans help me to find out which one to get the A3 OR the S3 MKII

It is obvious that the S3 is the a bigger and higher level speaker compared to the A3. But I did not have the chance to listen to the S3

If money is not an issue which one you recommend? A3 OR S3

I am assuming that all of you will direct me toward the S3 BUT the question is, can you quantify the difference between the A3 and S3?
The S3 is better by how many % in terms of sound quality? If it is the matter of 10% or less then I will go with the A3.

Please help me to choose in between the A3 and S3

Please help!

I am in the market for a new pair pf speakers.

I am in-between the S3 MKII and the A3. I only had the chance to demo the A3, which a find it a great speakers. Unfortunately, did not have the chance to listen to the S3 MKII.

I am totally aware that the S3 is a bigger speakers and much more money.

My question is, to your ears how much the S3 is better? Is it really worth the purchase compared to the A3. Again I am totally aware that there is no right or wrong here, it is all about personal taste and budget.

If you listened to both can you quantify the difference? Is there a different in terms of sound signature?

Why would you choose the A3 over the S3 OR the S3 over the A3?

Consider a used pair of Q3. Cheaper than a new pair of S3Mk2. You can get many years of service out of Q3. Save your pennies for M2 and then sell Q3 for about what you paid for them.

Excellent advice.

Sanbobo, I presume you heard the A3 at a Magico dealer. Why not try to hear the S3Mk2 at a Magico dealer, hopefully with the same equipment in the same room, and then decide for yourself which is the one worth buying?

Is there a reason you have not been able to hear the S3?

Go for the S3 mk2 if you can swing it. It is a better speaker. More expensive, yes, but better. Fuller in the bass, moves a lot more air, plays bigger/louder.

I am an S3 Mk2 owner. I have heard both, and I agree with Mike. The S3 Mk2 has a bigger sound with significantly better bass (larger bass drivers, more cabinet volume) and, to my ears, a smoother top (diamond tweeter). Get the S3 Mk2 if you can swing it. I don't think you'll regret it.

How's that work? Audio gear is a depreciating asset and speakers take the biggest hit on the used market. The more times a pair of speakers changes hands, the less desirable it becomes on the used market. Never purchase used audio gear on the premise you will get your money back when you sell it.
