I know there are a few Lyra fans here so I thought I would share some of the latest news on their new Etna cartridge. Pic from Wizard's website.

Doug, I don't even want to think about how good that cartridge is :exciting:

My Kleos is so good that at this point, I think ignorance is bliss !!!

Yes my all time favorite cartridge is the Titan i . And this is the replacement for it.
It's now my dream. Lmao!!!!! Wonder how long it would take on order.

I hear you Mark. When I first heard my Concept MC I was amazed at how good it sounded. I figured all those higher dollar carts were better but probably by not much. When I installed the Delos I was amazed by how everything was kicked up about 10 notches. So yeah, I bet the Etna is really something!

A guy's gotta' have dreams Steve! You should order one and find out how long it takes.

Doug, I'm glad you love your Delos, it's a fantastic cartridge ! I loved it in my system !

The Etna was featured in several rooms at RMAF - including the ARC - Vandersteen room. It sounded terrific. The cartridge had less than 10 hrs on it.

Personally I don't quite understand the pricing. At 7k it is very close to Atlas. If I you are spending 7k it is not that much more to tretch to 9.5k for the Atlas.

There still seems to be a gap after the 3k Kleos and the now 7k Etna?

The Gap will narrow when the Skala replacement is released which is in the works.....

Hi Folks
I'm the first man who bought the LYRA ETNA, PREVIOUSLY used Titan, Titan i, Delos, Kleos installed on a graham phantom II, on a Basis 2500 Signature, electronic all FM ACOUSTICE + CABLES. Loudspeaker FOCAL SCALA .
ETNA : ABSOLUTELY stunning !!!!!!!!!!!! NOTHING came even close ,far far above the musicality of the Kleos, far far more punch of the Titan i , ecceptional tracking , bass, image, I don 't have more words .............

I had a nice long talk with Jonathan at CES and from our conversations, it's a bit off base to say the Etna is a replacement for the Titan. Sonically according to Jonathan, the new Etna's roots lie more in common with the limited edition Olympos née modded Parnassus than they do with the Titan. The Atlas has more of a sonic connection to the Titan (that is still a very fine cartridge.)

I wonder if they will come out with an Etna mono version like they did with Titan ?

I think eventually. Right now they're back ordered on the Etna. Know Joe is only allotted so many cartridges. :(

The real bottleneck is that the Atlas takes 2x the time to build as the other cartridges and basically only Mishima builds them.

Who would have thought there would be so much demand for cartridges 35 years ago? :)

Congrats, Lyra make great cartridges.

The Etna is on the same sonic level as the Atlas albeit with a slightly different voicing as mentioned by Myles. This gives us, the consumer more choice in the house of Lyra, which is all good.

The simpler physical build of the Etna vs the longer more complex build of the Atlas attributes to the lower price.

God bless analog

they are telling people a few weeks lead time when you order a cartridge. but several people i know have waited a minimum of 12 weeks recently for any cartridge from lyra. just way too long to wait, just go buy something else. i love all the lyras i have heard but that is not doable for most. would really aggravate me if i bought a $7000 etna and they said it would be in my hands in a month, and it took 3 months.

Dear Sir
as an owner of 3 Titan (2x Titan i) have to report that after hearing even the Kleos, Titan was marred by some hardnness, and resonances, partly ameliorate in the Kleos that show better musicality and nuances, the only limit of the Kleos foe me is limited punch in the lower octave and some dynamic compression .
ThE ETNA (I've never heard OLYMPOS) IS ANOTHER WORLD, in a word you hear MUSIC sic et simpliceter, NOT hi-fi.
I live in Milan (Italy) and I bought the cartridge from the Italian official distributor "AUDIO GRAFFITI" of Sergio Pozzi , and I'm the first person in Italy who have it.

BEST REGARDS

Steve, I think thst's true for most expensive cartridges. Plus it's new and demand is great.

Not only that but demand is worldwide and we are but one country. I'll bet you demand from Asia outstrips the US.

im sure your right about that. ive never bought a $7k or more cartridge. so i have no idea and they probably just build them for the person once they are ordered. in that case i can definitely see it taking a long time. but if kleos' are taking 12 weeks i couldnt even imagine how long an atlas or etna would take. god like 6-8 months? i dont have that kind of patients.lol
