I would imagine it’s in reference to that one specific speaker. Shindo certainly is not short on bass.

That review was definitely not a good showing for the Klipschorns.
Having just purchased the MS-88SE, I did get excited when I read the part about it besting the Shindo, but like @vortex I assume it was just specific for those Klipschorns. I also wonder how much break in and placement had to do with the mediocre performance of the KHorns. I feel like it took some significant break-in for my La Scala IIs to really open up in the midrange. I'd certainly hate to have a lasting impression formed by what they sounded like right out of the box.
