Thanks Mike.

Look forward to your comments on its SQ.

Good clean sound. Bass is quite good. It has good PRAT. Good richness and tone. Everyone that hears it says, "wow, that's a nice sounding amp".

Thanks Mike....that is definitely white LED's. I think Luxman wanted to put this integrated into the same class as their separates, which also has white LED meters.

I think the 509x would be better....newer design, headroom, and much cooler temp wise and nicer looks......just a guess and an opinion though.
On the plus side the 590 is all class A although only 30 watts.

590 actually benches at 90+ watts.

Is Luxmans website wrong? :doubtful: The 509x is at 120watts at 8 ohms same as Diablo 120

The L-590AX MK II draws upon Luxman's decades of experience in amplifier design to deliver an exquisite combination of rich sonic expression, fine detail, wide bandwidth and dynamic gusto. Stereo output is rated at 30W per channel into 8Ω and 60W per channel into 4Ω.

Omg! Did I just correct Mike!
i have graduated!
:scholar:

HiFi News put both on the bench. The 590 was 97 watts into 8 ohms. The 509 was a ballsy 147.

Unlike the Class D ding-dongs, the Japanese always woefully underrate their amps.

Quite a bit underrated! Who would expect this from a 30w Class A amp! http://www.luxman.com/files/HFN_Luxman L-590AXII_lowres.pdf

"I got a real surprise when firing-up Luxman’s L-590AXII on the test bench because, unlike the on-line ‘reviews’ that proclaim this amplifier ‘outputs 30W/8ohm and 60W/4ohm’ (a fact dotingly reprinted from Luxman’s press release and user manual), HFN can reveal the figures are actually 2x95W and 2x165W into 8/4ohm. Quite a difference, as I’m sure you’ll agree! Perhaps Luxman means that the first 30W are delivered in Class A (power consumption at 2x30W/8ohm output is 265W)? Either way, the dynamic output of the balanced power amp section suggests very little additional headroom at 97W and 180W into 8/4ohm with electronic protection activating at 303W and 170W into 2/1ohm loads, respectively [see Graph 1, below]. Still, the maximum 13A current capability (at <1% THD) is muscular enough for a 30-watter."
