This beauty turned up just 2 days before Christmas after a 7 month wait, and oh boy was she worth the wait, absolutely incredible pre amplifier

Tone and space was the first thing I noticed and coming from a C-900u, I honestly was worried there wouldn't be a noticeable difference, how wrong I was,

Huge step up in every way, dynamics, tone, soundstage (depth & width) this pre amplifier is superb, to say I'm happy is an understatement

Congratulations on your new cl1000.
Heard the pre at the local Luxman distributor, it defiantly a step up from the C900U.

If the CL-1000 had a remote control, it would be perfect for me.

I thought the lack of remote control would bother me but once the volume is set then I don't have to change the level

I listen to CD's only, so volume gain is easy to set evertime you select a disc, streaming would be an issue I think as evertime to switch between albums on the fly the gain is so different

Thank you, and agreed the 1000 is a huge step from the 900u

Preamp without a remote? As good as it looks, that’s clearly a fumble.

I'm sure they felt it would compromise sound quality... at least it gives me a reason to stick with my treasured C-900u with its full function remote control. :)

It has tone control so a well designed remote control would not compromise sound quality.

anyone know if the CL-1000 phono stage is tubed? the web-site description doesn't specify, however from the photo it looks to be solid state.

Details I found state that all 6 tubes are used in the line stage section, so the MM phono gain must be provided by solid state devices and the additional gain for MCs is from internal step up transformers.
