Lumin X1 Question

I finished my taxes, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. So, I am ready to make my final high-end audio purchase since I retire the end of April. After that, no more excess income.

So, just to be sure, will the Lumin X1 support a direct attached USB drive the same as the S1?

By ‘the same’ I mean THE SAME. I plug in the drive to the USB, and Lumin X1 sees and plays the songs. No hoop jumping. No BS.

Yes it plays music from a USB storage device. However, you may need to recreate the playlists if the old ones do not work.
 
Bud - Congrats on your retirement! Also, you will be very happy with the X1.

Yes but no comparison with a Synology NAS using the Minimserver native app wich is perfectly compatible with Lumin streamers. Ultra fast and convenient. 400$ best investment ever for your retirement. Btw congrats [emoji122]

The X1 has one USB port but it seems to be dual purpose, both Input and Output. Does it default to Input unless USB is selected as Output in the Options?
 
Yes, the USB port can either be used for a USB storage device, or output to a USB DAC.

The USB drive I have loaded with the backup of my NAS music works fine on my iMac and Naim Uniti Nova but won't work on my X1. It powers the drive but doesn't read it. It doesn't show up in the Lumin App.

Is there any difference from the way you implement the usb out between x1 and transport model e.g lumin u1?

It should show up as an additional library available for selection. If it does not, please power cycle the X1 and try a different USB flash drive. If a USB device uses exFAT format, it must have one partition.
