The X-1 literature claims that its new power supply is available for separate purchase to drive S1/A1/T1 units. Has anyone had any experience with this, is it a better upgrade option than say, a Kenneth Lau unit? Having the T1 currently my upgrade option is either a power supply upgrade or a used S1. Thoughts?

Welcome to the Forum Spinaker01 , and i have similar thoughts.

I do think that it is still too new that anyone have tried this.

We begin to ship Lumin X1 power supply as an upgrade for existing S1 / A1 / T1 / U1 with a special converter DC cable.

Previously:
- A1 / T1 shipped with the original Lumin linear power supply (first version)
- S1 / U1 shipped with an improved version of the power supply (second version)
- More recent A1 / T1 also shipped with the S1 / U1 power supply

Has anyone upgraded to the X1 power supply? Does anyone know what it cost ?. I have a T1 and am thinking of upgrading but would first like to get some opinions if possible.

I just got the opportunity to loan a Lumin X1

And waouu what a streamer , compared to Lumin T1 that i currently own.

The initial impressions is that there is better seperation , vocals , instruments have a much better definition and weight. Bass is really tight and detailed....and as far as i know the X1 on loan, has only played for a few hours at most ,at the dealer.

I did not expect the difference to be that much .... the whole soundstage on the recording is just rock steady and very well defined.
Feel like i really like to win the lottery.

Ps. Peter , do you have any idea on how close the T1 with the upgraded power supply will be ?

Your T1 will benefits in the new power supply design of the X1. The bass, definition and certainly the background darkness will be a sizeable improvement. IMHO

Thanks for the opinion, I will see if the local agent could let me try one on loan

Peter...am i reading your post correctly that the X1 PSU is available as an upgrade to the A1 ?..If so..how much and is this a better upgrade than the Ken Lau PSU upgrade was to the original A1 PSU..?

Yes, its MSRP is USD2000. We've not compared it with the Kenneth Lau power supply - it's not practical to compare anyway because there are different variations at different times at different price points of the latter.

Peter - thanks. Not to hijack the thread but will there be an L2 with a matching case to the X1 power supply or is the L1 what will be available for the immediate future? Any plans to have more storage capacity (than the 5TB) in a new library unit?

Currently there is no hardware related plans for L1.
