Lumin supports Qobuz Connect

I don't know about the Qobuz App being easier to use, but I do turn to it to get information not available on the LUMIN App from time to time. Honestly, the LUMIN App works so well, and sounds so good, I can't imagine controlling the main rig with anything else. I could see where Qobuz Connect might be helpful when playing Qobuz on non-LUMIN equipment...but again, I'm not sure exactly how.

My situation: I have a Bluetooth speaker and a car stereo that I stream Qobuz to via Bluetooth, both from the iPhone. Would Qobuz Connect make either of the above better, and exactly how? Would Connect allow me to stream music from my phone to other people's rigs with less hassle? I guess I'll have to wait until it becomes available to see what all it can do, and how it would apply to my specific needs.. because at this moment, I just don't understand what Qobuz Connect does that Qobuz doesn't. (Not familiar with Tidal Connect, either.) Is it just a matter of convenience? Does it affect sound quality? Is the big advantage that you can use it over Wifi as opposed to Bluetooth?

If anyone has an explanation (or a link) that details what Connect does, its benefits and exactly how it works, that would be greatly appreciated! For the record, I am not being lazy - I have searched quite a bit and haven't been able to find a good primer anywhere. Thanks in advance!
IMHO, the Lumin app works very well and sounds better than Roon , but not as good as Jplay.
It is probably related to their statement: "Jplay minimizes the network traffic between the app and the audio endpoint to absolute minimum assuring the lowest possible network noise".
As we all aware of, in network streaming everything matters! so this indeed affects sound quality.
I doubt Qobuz connect will sound any better than the Jplay, but it could be very nice to use their app while playing music in the background

Peter, is there another step to doing the update? I switched it off at the back, went into player options and changed check for firmware updates to no, then back to yes, but nothing is happening? Am I supposed to power it off again after I switch to no?

This isn't the first time that I've heard about Jplay, will have to check it out.

Lumin X1 P-series U-series T3X T3 T2 D3 support Qobuz Connect in Firmware 19. If your Lumin unit has Tidal Connect, it will have Qobuz Connect feature after this firmware update.

However, this is not usable until Qobuz app is updated to version 9 in the future to support this feature. Qobuz app 8.6.x and before does NOT support Qobuz Connect. Even if you have the correct version, you may still need to wait for this feature to be globally released by Qobuz and enabled for everyone.

Please wait for official announcement from Qobuz.

Lumin Qobuz Connect plays gapless as Lumin Tidal Connect does.

We also have proprietary enhancements for additional buffering, as well as Qobuz Connect discovery, so it should hopefully be easier to discover Lumin in Qobuz app than competing devices.

Still, if you have trouble discovering Qobuz Connect device, please follow this troubleshooting guide to Qobuz Connect Discovery.

- Make sure you have a required Lumin model for Qobuz Connect: X1 P-series U-series T3X T3 T2 D3
- Make sure you're running Lumin Firmware 19 or later
- Make sure Qobuz Connect setting is turned on in Lumin app (with the latest Lumin app version)
- Make sure your Qobuz app is version 9 or later. Qobuz app 8.6.x and before does NOT support Qobuz Connect.

On Qobuz app device:
- Disable Firewall, especially on desktop
- Disable VPN. On Apple systems, uninstall all VPN apps (not only disable)
- On Apple systems, disable Limit IP Address Tracking
- Grant all permissions required by Qobuz app, especially Local Network on Apple systems
- Swipe away Qobuz app
- On Android, then Force Stop Qobuz app
- Go into Flight mode (preferred), or turn off WiFi
- Exit from Flight mode, and resume WiFi
- Wait for WiFi connection
- Launch Qobuz app

On Lumin app:
- If you are having Qobuz Connect discovery trouble, turn off Lumin Streaming (AirPlay) and Tidal Connect.
- Turn off Qobuz Connect, wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on
- If it still doesn't work, wait for a minute, then power cycle the Lumin hardware
- If all else fails, re-enable Lumin Streaming (AirPlay) and Tidal Connect. Check that your network infrastructure supports these discovery protocols using iOS AirPlay feature, and Tidal app (requires a paid Tidal account).
- Especially if you have multiple Lumin devices, rename the Lumin device(s) to something different

Thank you, Peter. I updated my Qobuz app (iPhone) and can confirm it discovers and lists my T2 as selectable/playable. Will test it out tomorrow.

The update worked and the LUMIN App says that I'm ready to go with Qobuz Connect (as soon as Qobuz issues the update).

Here is what I see when using the Qobuz website on my Mac: Connect to living room.png
...and it streams perfectly to the LUMIN T2 in the main rig.

I think the benefits of Qobuz Connect will at some time be evident to me. Right now, I'm still at a loss as to exactly what it can do for me. (I listen to one source in one room at a time.)

Try Autoplay - turn it on in Qobuz app, it should bring you music that (hopefully) matches your taste or is related to what you used to play (I guess), after your play queue is finished with repeat off.

Thanks, Peter. I have been using the Autoplay feature for a while now (Qobuz App on the computer, car stereo and Bluetooth speaker). I agree, it works quite well.

A member in a competitor forum (the manufacturer is on the long list but has not released Qobuz Connect firmware at the time of this post) commented that Lumin release of Qobuz Connect "has to be in beta".

That's not true. Lumin firmware 19.0 has Qobuz Connect SDK 1.0 official release, as shown in Lumin app About hardware. This SDK version is not considered to be a beta release by Qobuz.

I also checked several major competitors on the list for their firmware release, but ...

Not a Lumin user here (I am using WiiM). But I can confirm that Qobuz Connect is working great. Long time coming!
