Peter,
Has/is Lumin giving consideration to offering a 'stack' similar to dCS/MSB that includes an SACD transport (or even an interface that would support a CD transport)? This would seem to broaden Lumin's appeal to digital-only customers looking to simplify their systems?

This would be awesome! But no, Lumin is unique in it’s focus and dedication to the streamer market. They didn’t invent the streamer market, they reinvented it. They now have an amplifier too which sounds quite good and with a Lumin streamer, can form the backbone of a great system.

SACD also typically requires some sort of proprietary connection in order to work with an external DAC.

Exactly, Mike (at least from a legal standpoint) - hence my question r.e. the stack. In the case of a CD transport, only a suitable input would do, although, for me personally, I would not buy a transport limited to CDs.

I am in your camp too. I have some amazing SACD’s. I have ripped them all though to DSD. But playing the SACD itself still sounds better.

You’re so right. I’d love the EMM SACD player, but with the NS1 I cant

Personally I don't think this is aligned with our direction, but this is above my pay grade anyway.

If someone tries to get into SACD transport business I'd imagine there would be supply chain difficulties. I cannot confirm the accuracy of these, but according to some forum posts a major Japanese SACD transport mechanism maker no longer provides SACD transport to OEM. Oppo exiting their disc player business is also very significant for others who wish to procure transport mechanism from them. And then there are SACD licensing issues. Some competitors seem to be relying on their inventory of the SACD transports procured before these happened.

Peter, thanks for replying. Am familiar with the SACD transport mechanism OEM problem a la Esoteric, OPPO, et al. That seems to be why several of the key players are building their own. If you decide to go in this direction, I am confident that Lumin will come up with a good solution.
