hi folks, tonight i wanted to try one of my dacs (Emm Labs DAC2X top of the line) this DAC accepts dsd 1x and all pcm type.
but by Lumin S1 as streaming the DAC2X don't play any DSD stream... (only pcm)
I used the digital coaxial output.
i had try DSD Bitstream and nothing, Dop (some light is on but never sound) PCM is OK the DAC2X play (but i want the pure DSD stream!!!)
some ideas !?

yes but I do not want to use usb and by totaldac the digital coaxial works properly on normal dsf or dff files (not working on the pcm upsampled to dsd).
why by Emm Labs DAC2x don't work on normal dff or dsf files (i use DoP, but nothing)?!

One of the possible reasons could be that some (many?) DACs that claim to support DoP only support "DoP over USB" but not "DoP over coaxial". Perhaps you can ask Emm Labs whether whether they support the latter format.

I believe it shouldn't be tehnically difficult for a manufacturer to enable DoP over coaxial in a DAC product if it already support DoP over USB.

ahhhh
I knew not this bad news !!! Now I would ask the Emm Labs...........

@RLL1
i see that you have the same my dac, have you updated the new firmware for dsd128 in ?!

krellz......No, I haven't upgraded. I wasn't aware it was available yet.

ok thanks

in Emm Labs for the dsd over coaxial unfortunately it's not possible ! :-(
but it is strange that the dac of totaldac works DSD over DoP on digital coaxial !!!!

Not possible. That's why there is now U1 to serve this need.
ok...
at this point the U1 and the S1 in the streaming function are identical ? the same quality ? or S1 is better than U1 ?

The U1 has no DAC, it has all the digital outputs you could want. Otherwise, it's identical.

well, it is my new road...

yesterday i unplugged the Emm Labs dac2x and listening only by the lumin S1 dac,
but when i connected the Emm Labs it not working the DSD128 to PCM out !!! first it worked !!
on dsd 1x it worked, but by the dsd 128 not anymore :((
what can I do ? reset lumin?!

S1 is able to play DSD128, but not able to convert DSD128 to PCM or upsample PCM to DSD128.

S1 / A1 / T1 / D1 can convert DSD64 to PCM or upsample PCM to DSD64.

U1 can convert DSD128 / DSD64 to PCM or upsample PCM to DSD128 / DSD64.

well, That is very clear..
I've been wrong about everything dsd conversion for the Lumin S1.

a question:
if U1 can upsample PCM to DSD128, it able to out at dsd128 also (by usb port)?!
if one wants to leave the possibility of upsampling, to only the external DAC,
the U1 has the ability to not touch the native files to DSD128 and also those at DSD64?
then the U1 comes out at 128 for native files at DSD128 and exit 64 for native file DSD64?!

wow the U1 make all possibilities !!! it has a more powerful CPU, I guess

but my question is
when i set the custom upsampling then the U1 out to that precise frequency, or modality (dsd or pcm), for each individual setting?! ?

As seen in the U1 resampling screen capture, for each individual source frequency (PCM or DSD), a different target resampling rate (PCM or DSD) can be chosen. (Not applicable to lossy audio like MP3 and AAC.)

it's great !!!!
