I finally received my new Melco N1ZH60-2, along with a Mini PC fanless 16 GB, Intel i7, SSD 256 GB to run Roon and be able to compare the sound using Twonky server, Minimserver and Roon.

The installation is as follows:

LUMIN

MELCO

AQVOX SWITCH

MINI PC

Both Twonky and Minimserver are installed in the Melco and Roon in the Mini PC.

The Switch Aqvox has a linear power supply Kenneth Lau 5volt /1 amp

The Mini PC has a linear power supply Kenneth Lau 12volt / 6 amp.

In the case of running Twonky or Minimserver, music files go directly from the Melco to Lumin.

When you run Roon is: Melco-Aqvox-Mini PC-Aqvox-Melco-Lumin

Well, after three days of endless tests, I have come to a series of conclusions, and a question.

1. If running Twonky or Minimserver being in (Lumin) ON the control Roon Ready, sound becomes a bit more raucous and slim.

2. If they are active at the same time, both Twonky and Minimserver sound worsens in the same way as in the previous paragraph. The sound gets worse more in the Minimserver than in the Twonky.

3 Minimserver sounds better than Twonky.

4 Melco is much better than a NAS.

5. RAAT Roon engine is very, very well, gives the sound more "analog" of the three servers. The saxophone in Jazz Giant Benny Carter through Roon is the most It looks like that same album on vinyl.

6. So many comings and goings of the signal when we run Roon, charged its price in some less than "musical emotion" micro dynamics, attacks...

Which I prefer... after three days still have it clear (possibly Roon). I'd like both, Roon running at the Melco, but that is simply not possible

If you decide to use Roon exclusively, it's best to store the music in HDD (or SSD if the library is small enough) directly attached to the Roon Core PC - from the perspective of reducing network traffic and improving Roon performance. NAS is no longer needed for music playback if you do this.
