Lumin L1 problem

I haven't used the L1 for awhile. I just connected usb to computer but the L1 hard drive is not showing on desktop.

I've tried 2 usb cables and powering on and off.

Front light flickering and small bottom front light is red. Small right light is not on.

Any other suggestions? Thanks
 
I figured it out: restart with home button depressed. Thanks
 
I sold the L1 and he couldn't get it to show the hard drive on his computer. He sent back and I
once again have the same problem. Restart with home button depressed is not working this time.

Home button is flickering blue and bottom left light is flickering red.
Bottom right light is blank.

Any ideas, Peter? Thanks

I think the HDD needs replacing, as I hear faint irregular sound from inside which like a hd not spinning. The L1 appears to be made very difficult to get into. The back comes off, but that doesn't allow access to change the HDD out. It looks like the top plate needs to slide off the bottom but that is locked in by screws 10" away inside the tight box.
