Looking to upgrade my N100H. Budget is around $3500 new or used. In my line of sight are the Aurender N200 and N10. (Used) Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated. Does not have to be Aurender.

What’s wrong with the Aurender that you own? As long as the one you have is sending bit-perfect data to your DAC, you are fine.

However, if you have $3,500 burning in your pocket, you may look at other ways to get better sound.

Heck, you can actually sell your Aurender streamer, replace it with a cheaper one (one with more features with no change in SQ) and you will have extra money to get something that will really improve the sound you hear.

Hi Nicoff,

There’s Absolutely nothing wrong with my N100H. I have the N100H for sometime now and looking to upgrade to another music server for better sound. I’d like to stay within the Aurender family but it’s not etched in stone. A new N200 would be great but out of my budget so I’m on the lookout for a used one..

WRONG!!!

I started with an Aurender N100H which was a great addition and does sound phenomenal. I upgraded to a N10 which was a great move forward in sound quality. I then upgraded to the N20 and graduated again to another level in sound quality. So there are big improvements in the Aurender heiarchy. A used N10 could possibly be in your budget. There are lots of new streamers and music servers on the market but from the ones I have and have tried the Aurender software and sound quality do not disappoint.

Sure, spend $10k on a streamer. Just don’t be surprised when your speakers still sound exactly the same.

At one point I owned a Mark Levinson #512 SACD player. I sold it when I decided to begin to stream. So my goal was to have a set up that sounded as good or as close as I could get within my budget. I got my feet wet with HEOS, Bluesound Node, into a decent Hegel DAC. That was not on par yet. I sold the DAC along with other gear to purchase my #526 preamp which has a DAC. I tried a streamer that cost around $4k it was better then the prior but still I was not satisfied. When a dealer brought over a Aurender ACS10 to listen to it was a game changer. I feel I have exceeded my goal. So yes, there is one hell of a difference between some streamers and you can get what you pay for in some instances. No matter what those cheap streamers claim about "bit perfect" that's BS. Upgrading to the N05xd for a DAC was another big step in SQ.

Maybe the difference between you and I is having the knowledge of good sound to begin with. Yes those entry level streamers did the job and maybe someone would be satisfied if they didn't know the difference. You can only hope one day they'd learn. Especially before trying to tell someone who does know they aren't correct.

One thing you fail to recognize is simple economics, if a product doesn't do what it claims it doesn't stay in business long. So you try to convince the masses we are all delusional. You are fighting windmills.

I see used N10 for sale often. I am not sure what your budget is.
