Looking for an integrated/power amp for my Vienna Acoustics Mahlers

I think if I keep the separates I will try a good valve preamp. Any suggestions to match my system?

Do you mean you can't tell a difference between the ARC 75 and your Class D in a certain frequency range or what? It seems to me those two should have drastic sonic differences.

Yes exactly - that's what I'm saying - there is no major difference. Spotted not only by me but also by several other guys coming to my place.

Since your budget is a "healthy" one don't overlook Pass Labs amps. I almost made that mistake. A little over a year ago I auditioned seven different integrated amps. I had already made my mind up after auditioning I was going with the Gryphon D300 integrated. I wasn't going to audition any Pass Labs amps. However, I decided that since I traveled 1400 miles to audition the other integrated amps I just as well audition the Pass Labs int 60 he had in stock. Man, was I glad that I auditioned that amp?!!! I was all set to get the Gryphon D300 (outstanding amp, BTW).

After auditioning the int 60 I decided I really liked it's sonic personality. However, I wanted to be sure of the transient peaks so I ended up ordering a Pass Labs int 250. I think the int 60 would have served me just fine but I wanted to make sure I was going to have plenty of clean power. You get top quality sound, components, and craftsmanship with Pass Labs. I once heard (and seen...) some class A Pass Labs monoblocks and I was very very impressed, very seductive sound for SS amps. Of course I loved the look of the beasts too. I did have the Int250 in my list but it is very difficult to find it in Europe but I am not in a hurry so I will wait for the right amp(s) to come along. Thanks!

Nothing against Pass or any amp for that matter, but want to make note on a technicality; amps used for playback don’t provide clean power they contribute to the opposite.

Unless you have the perfect straight wire amp that of course doesn't exist.

Interesting discussion. I also have the Liszt speakers and have been toying with the idea of going with an integrated. The one that has caught my eye recently is the new Modwright 225i and it is a hybrid amp with two 6922 tubes for the preamp section and it plays in class A to 25 watts. It's 225 watts into 8 ohms and 400 watts into 4 ohms. Of course there is Hegel, T+A, Pass Labs and other European brands which are more expensive in the states. I do like the idea of a tube preamp section and solid state for the amp section. For these speakers it's important to have a solid 4 ohm performer since the impedance curve does dip a little to about 3.75 at about 100-200 cycles but is pretty flat.
