Looking for a networking streamer

The most versatile streaming DAC I know, w/o adding several K$$ for every new connector etc, is the Brinkmann Nyquist mk2. All formats, streaming, Roon endpoint, AES/EBU. So far I’m very happy with it. Should be available at below the basic MSB Premier price.

Another one is the recently launched T+A SD 3100 HV streaming DAC (not sure it’s a Roon endpoint though, did not see the HV series on the list). Probably sets you back as much as the Nyquist. But it’s a monster, you need a good back for carrying it (approx. 30 KG).

30 KGS = 66 pounds for a streamer? I wonder what makes up all that weight.
My old streamer (a Transporter) has similar features and weighs 11 pounds in the box!

That’s the T+A top-end High Voltage line.

All the components are similarly massive due to the aluminum casing (1 1/2” milled front plate) and massive transformer, double mains line (separate input for each channel).

Check them out, quite fun. I am currently auditioning a HV line pre, it’s very nice. Mike has the PA 3100 HV integrated in the store, I think.

I just noticed that it is an integrated amplifier as well. Now all that weight makes more sense.

It is a whole range, they all look pretty similar.

The integrated is the PA 3100 HV, the streaming DAC is the SD 3100 HV.

Hi, I'm looking for suggestions for a device that accepts ethernet, acts as a Roon endpoint and outputs AES/XLR.

Of course, I'd like the best one that doesn't cost the same as an automobile. :)

I currently use a Vivaldi Upsampler but given that I don't use the 'upsampler' part of it, it's overkill for my needs (although it sounds amazing...)

Thanks in advance!

i almost bought your vivaldi upsampler! however, i ended up going for a metrum ambre. it's reasonably cheap as far as audio components go and i have been running it with aes out. very simple set up as well.

randomly started thinking about this again...not sure if it was mentioned earlier but if you like your vivaldi upsampler...maybe the best direction is dcs' network bridge?

oops: it was

I have been doing some research of my own with similar requirements (accept DSD256 via ethernet, act as Roon endpoint and output analog via AES/EBU). Surprisingly (to me at least), several of the devices mentioned in this thread failed that set of requirements.
T+A MP3100HV (multi player) and SD3100HV (streaming DAC), do NOT accept DSD via ethernet (as confirmed by their own tech support to me, just days ago), which I thought was disappointing for an otherwise engineering masterpiece
Aurender does not work with Roon (I would love to be wrong on this one, so anyone using an Aurender as Roon endpoint, pls chime in)

The ONLY players I have found so far which meet my requirements under 10K$, are:
Auralic Vega G1 (someone mentioned the Aries G2 in the thread, but that does not have a DAC, nor analog out)
Auralic Vega G2
Lumin T2

If I have missed any, please let me know.

For some reason my earlier post did not make it onto the board.

I am in a similar position to the OP.
I was/am looking for a Network Streamer/Dac whicvh accepts DSD256 via ethernet, acts as a Roon endpoint and outputs analog via AES/EBU.

Based on those criteria, several of the devices listed in this thread do not qualify.

The top-shelf T+A HV components (SD 3100 HV or MP 3100 HV) do NOT accept DSD via ethernet, as confirmed directly to me by T+A tech support.

Aurender does not work with ROON (I would love to be wrong on this, so if anyone is using their Aurender as a Roon endpoint, please chime in

The Auralic Aries G1/G2 is a network streamer/bridge but not a DAC => no analog out at all.

The only devices I have found which meet the above requirements for less than $15K, are:

- Auralic Vega G1 dac
- Auralic Vega G2 Dac
- Lumin T2
- Lumin X1
- Brinkmann Nyquist Mk2 (at the very top end of the 15K barrier, so not in serious contention for me)

If I missed any, somebody please provide feedback.

- Lumin T2
- Lumin X1

I can confirm Lumin T2 and X1 support up to DSD512 over Ethernet Roon Ready, with analog XLR / RCA outputs and digital USB / BNC-SPDIF outputs. MQA certified too - if you subscribe to Tidal or have MQA CD rips.

There is indeed very few Roon Ready analog-output network players capable of DSD256 / DSD512 playback from Roon.

Aurender is not Roon Ready, you can find their reason of not supporting Roon here:

Why not find the best sounding DAC - then adjust the feed in & out to suit.
A DAC is a major Hi Fi component - would you place the same restrictions on a Pre Amp for example - or purchase the one that sounds best to you.

As stated above, I am not interested in moving to USB, for a number of reasons my post did not go into (in part because I also do not want to derail the thread into a USB vs Ethernet vs SPDIF debate which has no added value). I like ethernet, so that is what I am searching for. Mr Wang from Auralic stated that Ethernet end-to-end was the best connection for my current setup config (see above) so when I upgrade I want to retain that connection/setup.
But to each his own.

I suggest that you create your own thread (rather than borrowing an existing one) so you can get answers specific to your situation.

Thank you for the comment, however: my needs and those of the OP significantly overlap AND several of the comments provided (about T+A or Auralic Aries) provided patently incorrect information, which is why I joined the thread (to share my own research on the question and to find out what else is out there that matches my and the OP's search criteria).
So your suggestion is heard and respectfully ignored, thanks.

give his severs a try for me it's the best made amd for far less then many others
all servers can be configured as needed and 24/7 tech support both phone and more importantly remote tech support.
For me why more don't offer this is a shirt coming for products like this.

Cary DMS-550
Cary DMS-600

Both receive DSD 512 and do upsampling native PCM and DSD to DSD 256 via direct ethernet input.

These replace the discontinued Cary DMS-500, which also handles PCM and DSD in same manner. The differences between these 3 are the level of DAC chips used.
