So I just got back last night from being out of town.

And along with coming back with quite the head cold, I had a shipment from Japan waiting for me!!

Video coming soon....

I too am interested in the Opt Bridge. As a user of the Ediscreation Fibre Box II , a “similar” optical isolation device I’m curious as to the Tele product here.

Interesting though , the Tele product seems to have an outboard switch mode power supply where the Edis product has an inboard linear power supply. Not that the difference necessarily means anything except experience tells or leads me too a linear power supply as a better idea generally.

It’s clearly posted how Ediscreation creates their optical isolation on their website but the Tele product doesn’t really go into how they do it .

To the unitiated but believing people that your ethernet feed can be cleaned and sound better the Ediscreation Fibre box II, if placed correctly is truly an excellent product and in my system made a incremental improvement sonically and did a better job than the audiophile switches I have tried. Currently I also use the Ediscreation switch and do believe it has merits but the optical isolation is truly the business

I'm going to review over the next couple of days. I've been quite sick the last 8 days and although I'm starting to feel better today, I only have about 40% of my hearing back from congestion.

Michael, if you can, get some Sambucol and take it. It was developed by an Israeli medical virologist, and really works, it has strong antiviral properities and is very effective against respiratory viruses, as well as other viruses. I kept one of my cats that became FIV+ (FIV is the same type of virus in cats as HIV is in humans) alive for 5 years by giving him Sambucol 2X/day. Most cats that become FIV+ die within 1 year after seroconverting. I prefer the syrup as I think it's more effective that the gummies or lozenges.

Cheers,
Stephen, your friendly neighborhood molecular biologist.

The reason that a run of "optical" (specifically, "optical isolation") works is that that it prevents the passage of low- and high-source impedance leakage current. This leakage current leads to threshold jitter, which causes timing errors, which our brains are very sensitive to when listening to music being streamed from a server. Copper Ethernet can pass leakage current, which is why a run of optical, even a short run, will generally provide an audible improvement. The "fiber boxes" e.g. the Ediscreation, the Telegartner, EtherREGEN (ER), Sonore OpticalRendu and OpticalModules (OM) make an improvement because they circumvent the passage of this leakage current (optical can't pass current, the signal is a "stream" of photons).

And like any "digital-domain" device used for audio, the quality of the power supplies and the clocks in these devices make a notable difference as well. The power supplies can mitigate leakage current, and thus, threshold jiiter and better clocks in these devices produce less phase noise. For example, one (but not only) the reasons that ER, OM, sound better than "generic networking" devices is they utilize better clocks, which results in less phase noise. Using an LPS with these eliminates the leakage current, and thus further improves audio quality. There's no magic in any of the devices here; and some of these devices manage or mitigate the noise factors (low- and high-source impedance leakage current, threshold jitter, phase noise, common-mode noise, etc). better than others. At the end of the day, it's all physics, and how does a product minimize the impact of noise, timing errors, and maximize the signal.

I was thinking Vodka would help kill any germs as well. LOL
