Living in Florida

No, no, there are some around $100k (town house condo with single car garage). Lots of SFH in $250k.

Indeed! No worries Jim.

Thought of you the other day while cruising the Baltic Sea. I know you and your wife like to cruise. We had fantastic weather and flat seas.

The Baltic cruises are pretty amazing. One of more impressive entrances to any city is passing all those small islands as you approach Stockholm. St Petersburg and the stop in Estonia were pretty good too.

I tried to talk my wife into moving there today. I damn sure don't want to move to the East coast where she wants to go.

Where on the East coast? I bought my retirement home on Maryland's Eastern Shore off a river the flows into the Chesapeake Bay, and I can't wait to retire and move there.

I see you are talking house prices NEW RULE in order to keep peace in your home you have to pay more for the house than you paid for you speakers.

Bud-My wife is from NJ and she knows we aren't going to move there, but she would like it to be somewhere close. She would be happy if we lived in Delaware, but nothing about Delaware excites me. She would also like to be within 30 minutes of the Atlantic ocean.

No tax excites me…plus the garlic crab… LoL

A few places for consideration without going too far south - Virginia Beach, Hilton Head and Charleston.

Also, South Carolina and Georgia are fairly tax friendly for retirees.

The entry into Stockholm is absolutely stunning. I was up at 5 am outside in our cabin balcony taking pictures.

I found the entry into St Petersburg very challenging to navigate - it is shallow and the ship had to navigate quite close to several islands with military piers. We had a pilot boat guiding the ship for quite a while.

Anyway, back to Florida living...

Delaware is close enough driving distance from the Eastern Shore to make it a worthwhile trip for saving tax on a big purchase. On the other hand, the Internet is even closer.

Hopefully, the summer humidity and bug count won't be as bad as Florida. :)

Miami humidity is unworldly...in the class of Singapore or Southern Spain. The Caribbean is heaven in comparison, except for the much stronger sun. Mosquitos are a problem everywhere. The deadliest (and most annoying) animal on the planet.

Good points.

Silicon valley has great weather, but too crowded and house prices too expensive.
