Listening at Suncoast

There were a few things that left impressions on me. First, the absolute improvement moving from the Naim system to the Boulder power/pre amp and Taiko Select II DAC. Not a fair comparison but one which showed the neutrality of the Kharmas. They react to what you put upstream. Moving to the Pass XA 60.8 and an XP22 pre was not much of a change to my ears and would save lots of cash as a downpayment on the Taiko 😳.

The next impression was the comparison on a song we chose played on the Taiko using ROON and with a few taps on the iPAD, the Beta TAS music player. Wow!

The Kharmas DB-9S sounded fantastic on everything we played on it (with Pass and Boulder amplification). Personally, I feel the larger DB-11S would provide a taller image which I might prefer. Lots to think about.
Lastly, the hospitality shown to us by Mike (and Mike), was first rate. Zero pressure, direct and forthright answers to all questions.

By the way, it’s the Rusty Pelican! Great seafood restaurant.

Correction : Google maps error. It is the Lucky Pelican
