Linn offers the Exakt principle now also for non-Linn speakers.

In order to use it you will have to have a newer spec Linn DS or DSM with Exakt connection.

Through the Exact connection (I think this is a normal UTP cable) you can connect an Exaktbox. This box contains the DA converters and the pre-amp part.

Each exit represents on speaker chassis meaning that the Exaktbox is an external digital crossover as well. This means that you'll need to buy a couple of amplifiers extra to implement this.
Here is an example of a set-up with Klimaxbox(es).

The set-up looks like this:

For some speakers there are special sets to bypass the original crossover. My B&W 802 Diamonds are among those:-)

The sound improvement is supposed to be huge.

Linn is now organizing demo's in Europe where they plug from the 802 crossover in an external box to the Exakt set-up to demonstrate the difference.

Cool stuff Hans.
Yes I know Mark. The only thing is that the investment is huge!

- Either upgrade my current Linn DS or purchase a newer one,
- Purchase one (Akurate Exaktbox) or two (Klimax Exaktbox as this is mono per box),
- Purchase the 802 modification kit and the labor to bypass the original crossover,
- Purchase the extra amplifiers. Since I am very, very happy with my Audionet mono power
amps I need to purchase 4 (in case I want to drive the 2 bass chassis from the same amp)
or 6 AMP's extra.

That would mean that I am more than doubling the investment in my current set... I don't think I am going to plunder our budget for that. But hey, I think the sound improvement would be great!

I agree Hans. That's a lot of money for sure. I think you would have a hard time trying to recoup your cash if you wanted to sell the stuff.
