Craig,
looks good, glad to see you got your picture taking skills improved ...... LOL !

Don't feel bad. I'm right there with you.

So many great looking cars in the thread. I sometimes wonder what job people have to afford those 100k+ euro cars.

Without options a BMW M4 would cost me new 110k euro. That more then I make in 3 years.

LOL! Yeah, you could say that. It's still not optimal though. I need to get in there and tweak it some more. It's just a major PITA as it's way up there behind the dash, and when you make one adjustment, you have to make a total of three other adjustments (meaning adjusting the cable angle/length and both switches).

So you put the chops to it ..... . :)

its all about HP per ton when talking acceleration, so this is what ive come up with...

This thing is just screaming for a turbo or supercharger[emoji33] , mo' powa'

What's the story with the straight up steering wheel?

you expect this thing to turn? the steering wheel is only there to help keep it pointed in a straight line. trying to negotiate a curve with only half throttle will launch you into the weeds. its not a pretty sight.

Finally, after 5 months, these Motordyne test pipes are installed. Definitely felt a rather big bump in performance, and of course, sound. Now I can move on to the tuning!

Thanks George!

Not only does Motordyne claim gains of 22 hp at the wheels with these (including an intake and cat-back), but there's also dozens of people who have dyno'd they Z's before and after installing these, all showing similar gains of 18 to 23 hp at the rear wheels. And after removing the stock cats and looking at both ends, I now know why that's possible. It's a wonder this poor engine could even push the exhaust through those things. The front half of the cats are something like 1400 or 1600 cell honeycomb, the back half looks like someone shoved an entire roll of paper towels in there!

Anyway, that 20 -/+ hp increase is definitely noticeable! Not only is throttle response razor sharp and instant, the engine revs much easier and quicker, and you can really feel it pull much stronger from about 4k rpm up to redline. The rear tires easily break loose going into 2nd, kicking the rear sideways. And that's with these sticky Continental 285/40-19's!

On top of that, this is all running the "off the shelf tune" from EcuTek, which is basically the stock map with a little fuel pulled to lean it out a bit (stock runs super fat) and just a little bit of advanced ignition timing. When we start on tuning Maps 2 thru 4, those are going to adjust fuel trims, cam timing, VVTL timing (the real power maker), and a few other things. Also possibly E85! That will be getting me close to 400 hp at the crank! Not bad at all for all motor V6!

Charles, that just looks bad ass! Looking forward to your outcome. Keep us posted.

Really nice stuff on this thread....so, from one of the older persons, a photo of my ride in 1963. Original shot was taken on Ektachrome. One can see my white Porsche 356A 1600 Normal Coupe, third down on right, at Road America, Elkhart lake, Wisconsin.

Too cool Tommie !! I love Road America, haven't been there since the mid eighties but my son and I are planning to take in the IMSA race this year.

OK, gotta ask..... were you one of those 'Hippie Chicks' back in the day ?
