I want to try my Lumin U2 mini connected to my DAC straight to my amplifier and bypass my preamp but when I enable the volume control in the app the sound stops. I am using the USB on the Mini so I am wondering if the volume control works on the USB out or do I have to use either coax or AES connection.

Also is anyone else using the U2 Mini in this fashion if so, how do you like it.

After changing any setting, please play the track again. Or if you are using Tidal Connect or Roon, play from respective apps again.

It has to stop the current playback in order to protect your speakers. If you turn it from On to Off, your volume will be reset to 100. In a direct to amp configuration, this will be fatal to speakers.

I tried the Leedh volume control with my U2 Mini still connected to my tube preamp with the volume control on my preamp maxed out 47 on the display. With the U2 mini volume maxed out to 100 the sound is low. My DB meter was averaging around 55db on the output. With the Leedh processing turned off my preamps volume control is set to 21 on the display to get to the same decibel level of 55. I will try it this weekend by eliminating the tube preamp and see if I get more volume.

It is much more common to have too much gain from a tube preamp instead of too little.

What is your DAC, preamp, and amp?

Your preamp has an output level setting at the back, in addition to the regular volume setting. Have you tried adjusting it?

No because I do not want the preamp in the chain for this configuration. I want to compare just from the U2 mini. I understand about the gain knob. I have it working as you see from my above post the way I intended direct to amp
