Last few feet of international delivery

Well, boxes are not newspapers.

You will not change the world. Or the way packages are handled. You can only accept that and prepare the package accordingly.

Personally, when I prepare stuff for shipping, I always ask myself a very simple question: will it get damaged when UPS drops it from 1m onto the ground?

No > go ahead, you can ship it
Yes > do your homework and box it better

It seems some wish to point blame at anyone other than the delivery — The shipper used bad packaging, the package didn’t have a fragile label, the delivery man had a bad day or was raised only by one parent, the sun was in his eye, it was probably treated worse along the way, if it breaks because of that it is the shippers fault…. All of these are excuses for not holding the driver accountable to do his job in the manner expected.

The one and only issue with this delivery is the delivery dude being too lazy to walk up three steps and place the box on the porch.

Your gear wasn't damaged so there is no blame that needs to be assigned.

Who said there isn't respect for packages :disbelief:..... its called pure lazy and a total disregard for a person's property. And there are 1000's of these examples on You Tube etc... its the new age of who gives a shit about your stuff. Dam shame.

Exactly right.

People ignore stop signs, red lights, speed limits, text while driving, and more.

I have a similar problem with just about every Mail Carrier I get. Think about it, how much more simple can this be.
Drive to next box
Open box
Put Mail in box
Close Box
Put Flag down if mail was taken from box

They can only perform the first 3 steps properly yet they get Bennies and Pay and Lifetime Medical better than most Skilled Laborers and Educated Professionals.

I do think it's a generational thing with all the snowflakes who are professional victims and self-absorbed.

There is a small family owned coffee and donut shop by our house and I go by on Sunday mornings. When the older mother serves us she takes pride and care and even is sure to put the donuts in the bag in a way they won't get damaged. When her son serves us he couldn't care less, never thanks us, and throws the donuts in the bag in a way they get destroyed. We see this played out in all aspects of life.

It's what we've allowed happen as a nation with no rules, easing of all standards in the name of some imaginary "fairness" and no longer being held accountable for our own actions. It's much larger than merely shipping packages. It's simple cause and effect that we are seeing.

So true,....

They got their Participation Trophy though so I guess they are doing fine [emoji854]

As if our parents and grandparents didn't say the same thing about our generation.

As if our parents and grandparents didn't say the same thing about our generation.

At least our grand parents and parents actually worked hard, didn't play victim, and had pride, had real jobs by their 30's and didn't live in their parents basement until they were 34. The current parents and kids not so much which is demonstrable and objective.

I openly admit my bother is a snowflake parent.

So you condone your auto mechanic taking your car for a spin at twice the speed limit as long as the car isn’t damaged?

As long as contents aren’t damaged, the carriers can do anything they want with them?

I highly suspect the company management does it train their drivers like that

Well maybe these generations could find real decent paying middle class jobs if our generation hadn't padded our bonuses and stock options by sending many of these jobs overseas, eliminating pension plans, and not allowing individuals to work a forty hour week because benefits might kick in. As our baby boomer generation dies out there is going to be the greatest transfer of wealth history has ever seen.

Hi - not sure if you are talking to me. I'm sorry you are so hurt that no one else on this forum is upset like you are.

You seem to miss my point which I have clearly made repeatedly - consequences for actions.

If you really think there should be consequences for a guy who dropped your package (not a civil nor criminal offense) and no damage occurred other than your feelings and in no violation of any agreements you had, and blindly suggest this is a conspiracy with his management, and somehow equate that with driving in a deadly manner without regard for public safety and driving to endanger (which is a criminal offense), then there is clearly no having an adult conversation.

I wish you the best of luck with your campaign to convince others your package suffered the crime of the century.

The problem started by and in Washington DC , all by design , the greatest transfer of wealth is going into DC ..!!!

Sure Jim. If you say so.

I'm happy to put my 4 years with a minor in economics and reality up against headline-repeating fluff offline of this forum any time for an honest in-depth conversation.

I'm not going to discuss the realities of economics and the effects and reality of high corporate taxation rates, over-regulation and the detrimental costs on business and society, destructive effects of NAFTA, dumping by China and more and how they created what you state on an audio forum.

Happy listening!

I don't think you have a grasp on the full picture. I was responsible for a sector of our operations that had factories based on every continent save for Antarctica so I am (was) fully conversant on global sourcing decisions.

It's easy to take shots at China, much of which is warranted, but remember a lot of those exports are sourced from Joint Venture operations owned by Chinese and US companies. We gave them our technology, and yes they are still trying to steal what we maintained here.

That is just one cog in in the list I stated of issues.

To recap;

- The delivery guy did his job.
- We shouldn’t expect a delivery driver to treat a package with any care.
- Throwing heavy packages is an acceptable level of service for a delivery company.
- Large corporations and China are to blame.

Geesh

Seems we have veered off of the key point.

Perhaps the Moderators would like to delete this thread? I would support that.

Me too!

Come on man you can't just put on the brakes when your raft hits the rapids, you have to ride them out. Apparently some would buy the package of broken Oreas opposed to the perfect ones. LOL
