In the last couple weeks while watching TV shows and commercials on what would be over air channels and specialized channels word usage has changed.

I am stunned with regular series on MOR channel and HGTV using the word F**K. I have stopped the programing and replayed to be sure I heard it correct.

Has something changed with the FCC or whoever oversees. Profanity on TV?

Rules for "indecent" and "profane" language/content do not apply to subscription services.

But the rules for "obscenity" aka not protected by the first amendment - apply to all broadcasts.

It's all over the place. Another way to desensitize people and children. If it's not language, it's death and destruction. Hard to find much good onn the boob tube and that is why mine has been off for close to 4 years now aside from select movies and a few nature shows.

I've not heard the F-bomb on OTA stations but the regulators have certainly gotten more lax on what they will allow as far as content. I have noticed that some, what used to be called cable stations, now are uncensored where they were in the past.

Like Brian I watch very little TV. I prefer to spend that time in front of my system. My wife likes to watch. I dropped Satelite a few years back. We only have OTA and Prime. Living in a suburban area I can get a nice variety from OTA. I definitely wouldn't pay for Prime just for video content.

Offensive language has really affected music. Artists who have never used the F-bomb in the past now do. It's like it's some type of unwritten requirement now.
