Ken, my B7 is OOOOLLLDD, from Sept 2014. It's DSD128. One day I will upgrade to DSD256. Not dual mono, as my Dac is SE. Dual Mono should be better suited for the Balanced guys.
I did not do much back and forthing with the Regen, just put it in with the Corning and loved it immediately. Appararently the new Amber version has resitors built into the PCB and emulate the effect of the Corning cable and now Alex thinks the Corning is a NEGATIVE with the Amber Regen…so your cable should be good.
Regarding USB cables, I dont have many high end ones. I have one from Lukasz, 2 Pangea cables, ifi Geminio and Mercury and a couple other mid range cables.
Last point, I know the older wodden chassis is not as well like in the US. One buddy there said it looked too "european". I quite like it in a darkened room.
