I think most Lampi owners buy Lampi to roll their own tubes anyway and just like more or less all high end gear also ships with standard power cables, most people have realised that an after market power cable can make a huge difference. but nobody wants to pay 300 to 3000 extra for the manufacturer to provide such a cable as everyone got their own favourites.
Folks, lets not turn this thread into another "myth and snake oil vs facts" thread pleaseLet keep this thread specific to Lampi Baltic3 and possibly other Lampi dacs.

You can also use a 5AS4
If changing stock tube is a must, I was hoping they would provide an option to exclude tubes from the purchase - in that way, one can save a few bucks![]()
Did it come with a stock power cord? I'd like to hear your opinion on it with that cord. I don't like tubes and shielded cords.
Not a must it seems, with the those crappy stock tubes you still described Baltic like this: "Mine had been burning since Monday and I am very impressed"![]()
I got some rack space limitations (8") and it would require a whole to new rack.
I think you might just be able to fit with GZ34. The 5U4G is about 5" measured from the base and the GZ34 is about 2.75". So there is a 2.25" of leeway. When I change mine sometime in the weekend, I will take some measurements.
1/16" shy of 5"
Sounds like an enjoyable DAC although I usually find richness, weight, warmth and yet a neutral tonal presentation an elusive combination.
Elusive but not unheard of. Dynaudio speakers are another product that has these attributes...
When I say "neutral", think of a digital photo with 18% gray with R/G/B values of 128/128/128. This does not mean that red, green, blue within that photo are not their respective colors; they are, however these hues are uncomtaminated by coloration from a lack of neutrality.
Hope that clears that up.
usually it is dynamic and pace where the rich&warmth do not stand out.I usually find richness, weight, warmth and yet a neutral tonal presentation an elusive combination.
Those who are wondering what those 6SN7 tubes with red base in the photos are - they are Shuguang WE 6sn7 Plus. The blue 6SN7 are the Psvane 6SN7-BE. Would be interesting to know why Lampi choose these two particular ones.
Hi, the story is extremely simple. We bought 30 pairs of EVERY 6SN7 and dereivatives octals - that are CURRENTLY produced in the world and we made a switching machine allowing to swap tubes by a remote relay on the flight - and we made A-B championship, with quarter finals, semi finals and finals. When the blindfold was removed - these two tubes got the gold medal ex Aequo. They are simply the best.
I wonder how tall the dac stands with the tubes installed ?
