I saw a room with Krell at Axpona. The first time I noticed Krell there, I thought that was a good sign. We did have a Krell dealer some years ago but from what I heard they dropped them because Krell was forcing their speakers on them. Just one side of a story, who really knows what's behind a store no longer having a line. If it's true Krell would do moves like that it could explain a lot. I personally believe something really bad soured the relationship though because they were big time Krell enthudiasts. It took them a good span of time to find a line to replace Krell.
I don't know the story between Krell and Dan, I had reliable sources tell me stories of when Dan started Krell he'd drive around with the amps in his trunk trying to get stores to listen. If anyone is like me you hate to see someone with heart like that get jerked around.
I speculate from comments made to me that it didn't sit well that a company would move manufacturing of some of the product to China yet prices didn't reflect any benefit to consumer. A guy I know has a Krell integrated that had issues at least twice I'm aware of, Krell took care of him by fixing the amp, he was happy but still QC issues really hurts a brand.
