Kondo Audio Note Japan new "Ongaku" review

It's a nice looking piece of gear and I bit it sound wonderful. But the RCA's on the side of the chassis big turn off for me.

I have heard full Kondo gear including phono with SPJ LA Luce turntable and vdh colibri cart. All on big Avantgarde Trio speakers.

Amazingly good!

You may want to try Audio Note UK DAC5. According to my dealer, it was much better and cheaper at the same time.

Adam, your comment begs the question....did "your dealer" represent both Audio Note UK and Audio Note Japan-Kondo, or possibly only one of them, or the third possibility neither of them, but possibly owned both DAC's and listened to them in the same room with each of the dac's optimized to get the best of each of them? It all means nothing, but the comment just raised my curiosity on the specifics.

He sells both and had had both in his system at the same time. He is extremely knowledgable as far as Kondo and AN UK gear is concerned as he is has been selling them for 20+ years.

Hi Norman:) Yes, I was running the Ongaku with the G70 and had the GE-1 in the system, but I don't think that we listened to any vinyl that day so all we heard was the EMM into the G70 into the Ongaku.

I am not a vinylhead, though I appreciate the sonic qualities.

BTW, I think my enire DSD128 library is only about 10 albums and random songs making up another 2 albums.

In terms of DSD64, it runs into terabytes now.

No worries ! And BTW - the transport he recommends most for AN gear is the 47labs PiTracer.
