Kimber Upgrade

Absolutely, see if you an get a pair on loan from your dealer. Only then will you be sure, but my opinion is that it's a pretty decent improvement.

I noticed a significant improvement when I upgraded to the Kimber Select KS-1116 balanced interconnects from the Cardas Clear Light balanced interconnects.

Well I finally went for it today and ordered Kimber Select all-copper speaker cables (KS-6063) and a second pair of all-copper interconnects (KS-1116). The first set of KS-1116 interconnects between my Esoteric K-01 player and Soulution 520 preamp resulted in a significant improvement in sound quality over the Cardas Clear Light interconnects. I can't wait to hear what the second set does between the Soulution 520 preamp and the 501 amps. But the biggest improvement should be when I add the KS-6063 speaker cables between the 501 amps and the Raidho D3. I can't wait to take delivery! :)

KS[6063] cables to much $$$$ for Me....
 
Thanks Mike and Mike! I'm very excited about this purchase. I've rolled so much gear over the last two years, I was never able to get around to the cables, until now. It's nice to finally come full circle! :)

Hi Bayou,

I think you will love the KS-1016 interconnects. They are the single ended equivalent of the KS-1116 balanced interconnects. They are extremely neutral and transparent but not at the expense of musicality. They just step out of the way.

I keep trying other highly regarded cables that are more expensive, but the Kimbers deliver the goods !

Thanks Mark! I look forward to that. :) It's a rarity to get that sort of performance with value pricing. How are your Salon 2's doing? I haven't heard too much lately so you must be just digging the music. That's wonderful thing about the Salon 2's, they just step out of the way and let you focus on the music.

Ken..."Yeah You Right" KS1016 are single end My pre amp Audible Illusion Mod 3B only has single end output..

Started out over 20 years with Kimber PBJ and 8tc /4tc biwire, upgrade 3 years ago with Kimber Hero and 8tc external biwire so I'll stick with Kimber..

Let us know about Your KS1116 between pre and amp I'm interested....
 
I have been using a couple of pairs of KS-1111 balanced for my ripping project, on long term loan from my consultant/dealer. They were spares, not in use by him. We did a little shoot out to see how they compared with 3 other balanced interconnects, including the ones I had been using, which were under $200 for a 2 m pair. I was hoping my pair would win or at least be close enough that I wouldn't feel like I needed to give them up. Unfortunately, I found that the Kimbers were noticably better sounding, less veiled, etc. So I have been using them (so far for free), and probably will eventually buy them. (My consultant said to find the cheapest used pair on the internet and then pay him whatever I thought was fair. A few months later he played for me a new set, from MIT, IIRC. It was really fine - much superior. I asked him how much. He said $10K. I said the Kimbers will stay.

Hi Larry,

Kimber Select are value engineered and some of the best bang for the buck cables in high-end audio. Glad to hear you like the KS-1111 inteconnects. The KS-1116 will give you even more of a boost in performance and are not that expensive compared to the likes of MIT and Transparent.

Mike has the Kimber power cords in his system. He says they are great. I'm sure he could recommend which model. I've already started with the Audience AU-24SE power cables and I really love their smoothness, so I'll probably finish up with them. But the negative is that they are rather expensive.

Hello kzhtoo. The top of the line Kimber power cord is the PK10 Palladian, which is a damn fine power cord. Regards, Scott
