Kharma MSRP going up

I have to imagine that Alon will raise prices at some point . . . or was there a recent increase? I've not been watching (as owner of $9800 A3's presently). Aluminum is up over 150% in 2021.

The $9800 went to $12,300 and then to $13,800. Au prices have gone through the roof, plus shipping too!

The $9800 was a magic number. We saw all kinds of different customers. It was great. We saw the “I have Def Tech’s now and have only dreamed of owning a Magico.”

At $13,800, it’s still an incredible deal, but we see less of the folks dreaming of moving up and more of the “I have a room that’s 15 x 18….” Different customer. More of the person wanting the right speaker for the right room than the hard core audio guy who’s clawing and scraping to own a pair of Magico’s.

And maybe some customers that now they are into the brand are now more willing to move up the line?

I went through this with fine wristwatches. "Who'd pay $3,000 for a watch???" which went to "Let me try on that AP ROO it's under $30k!"

That could be. It’s interesting to study how people buy. They buy as much with their eyes as they do with their ears. Everyone loves the look of the Kharma’s and Magico’s. The others are hit or miss. Had a guy today who was flipping over the sound of the little Vivid S12’s but he kept saying “I can’t look at them!” His friend kept saying “I love the look.” Go figure.

I showed my wife a pic of the Kaya 45's but she was a firm "no." She has great taste in decoration and design and we own a fair bit of mid-century furniture but those were an immediate no from her so I dropped the subject. (Yes she likes Magico, our As and the others.)

Luxury goods. It's an art and talent to sell them successfully. At least in part because the customers are . . . well . . . some are more challenging than others.

Saying the Vivid are a challenging sale is an understatement.

i ve found the vivid to be the ugliest speaker ever, called them fagotts etc.....until i saw them in reality.
depending on the finish, they look utterly cool. the dealer had a lot of models and one was a smaller giga in a special grey matt version. my number 1 of cool speaker by now.
the sound was very very very good. if they had a tiny bit more slam, they would be my nr1 sonicly too. heard with ch-precision and dartzeel, both made good sound.

btw whats your forecast...will most high end go up, was kharma just the beginning of the nightmare?

Not sure if you’ve been watching, but they’ve ALL gone up. All.

Even Pass which hasn’t had a price increase, has a big one coming.

Luxman just did too.

In 2021, they had them early, middle or late, but they all had price increases.

I think it’s almost everything going up. Governments around the world printing money like drunken sailers just floods the market with cash. Demand goes up. Prices of everything goes up. Etc.

Just look at used car prices. Housing. Groceries. Gas. It’s global.

Countries around the world had large spending bills during Covid and now we have sooooo much cash in the economy driving up demand and prices.

I’m on the Corvette Z06 forum and people there are spending $50-100k over MSRP to just get on a list. A list for a Chevrolet, not some one off Rembrandt painting. A Chevy! Insane.

Glad I bought a bunch of Bitcoin a couple of years ago. Currencies are being devalued.

Add to this, the delays - months and months - to get any product, even dishwashers!

But we are way off topic. Back to Kharma.
