Kekie the kitty and Gus the horse make friends

About five weeks ago some one abandoned a tiny little 6 week old kitten on the road next to my property and home. This little kitty managed to make its way through the trees and was hiding under a shed Marlene uses as a shop. Marlene heard a faint little meow one morning and called me outside. It took me about half an hour to encourage the kitty to come out from under the shed but once out she was quick to purr when petted. She was so skinny you could feel the points on each of her vertebrae. Marlene instantly adopted the kitty and named it Kekie. In the five weeks since finding her Marlene has fed her plenty of food and clean water, and keeps her in the shed at night. She has grown almost twice her size and weight and is turning out to be a playful and sweet little kitten. She will be an outside cat that gets put inside the shed at night to be safe, and has already begun exploring. She discovered Gus, Marlene's palomino Quarter Horse. Over the past week Kekie and Gus have been making friends. I'm sure they are destined to be good pals. These photos were taken this afternoon.

Awe, Dan. So cute. I'd like to get a pet for my mom. Cats are pretty independent.

Always like to hear of people being kind to animals Dan. Those pics made my heart jump as Kekie is identical to a cat that we had a few years back called Bundy. Even down to the more prominent rings at the end of his tail. He was one hell of a brawler too :D

This afternoon Kekie and Gus were checking each other out. Kekie is getting braver. They are definitely becoming friends.

Kekie loves to play in Gus' hay. Every morning when Marlene feeds her horse, the kitty goes right in the stall and jumps on the hay. The other day Kekie was laying on his back letting Gus lick his belly. Gus is real gentle with the kitten. It is amazing to watch the two of them together. They have become real pals.

Here's a few photos of Keke taken this morning. He is growing bigger every day.

Keke in the feed room hiding in the hay. He's not fooling Gus.

Very cool Dan. They both have great lives and look extremely well cared for, well done.

Keke has been growing fast. He is now 9 months old by our estimation of his age when we first found him meowing and hiding under a shed on my property. Marlene and I believe he was born mid July 2017 and was only about six weeks old when we found him in August. This photo was taken October of last year when Keke was 3 months old.

The picture below was taken yesterday in Gus's feed room. Keke still loves to play and hide in the hay bales. He is turning out to be a fun pet. Marlene and Keke are great friends, and Gus and Keke play together all the time. Keke is still growing. He's turning into a big boy.

Hi Dan....you and Marlene have warmed my heart today. My wife and I have saved many cats over the years. I also feed and leave my shed open at night for the 9 cats that come to visit. :congrats:

My Rustycat is a bit more of an indoorsman. Loves music too.

AJ.......Keke spends his nights shut inside a shed. It's his home, his food, water, and bed are there and he goes in at night on his own before we close the door. Marlene lets him out every morning before she feeds her horse and Keke has the day to himself outside. He has become quite a hunter. He has m no problem catch lizards, grasshoppers, and other small critters. One day a month or so ago a fox came by the fence around Gus's pasture and Keke confronted the fox and ran it off. That was fun to see. As for coyote, they are around but usually hear them only at night. Keke is safe in his shed during those hours.

Thanks for the photos of Rustycat. Good looking music partner.

Keep the gun handy, we have had a few coyotes running around hunting cats at night. And we have people in our area reporting their cats as missing. FYI: A few nights ago, a neighbor took a coyote, one shot one kill.

Our Lacy below, is an inside cat, she hangs around watching TV and listening to tunes.
