do you have another amp around besides the 30.8? the pulsars like lots of power 150 wpc or more, they will sound dead on 30 watts. I see the Kef's sensitivity is low as well...just sayin'

30wpc class-A, ain't paltry; but I see your point Rob.

If they sound "dead", maybe I'll look into a loaner for the audition.

I think that Rob has raised a valid point since both speakers have relatively low sensitivity. However I have heard the Pulsars sound superb with a quality 40 watt tube amp as long as you keep the volume level within reasonable limits. I don't have any first hand experience with the KEF Reference series.

Guys, I've read the sensitivity is very low (JA measured ~83.5). OTOH...the impedance is stable; never dipped below 6, and almost stayed at 8 across the FR. Hopefully, the Pass is up to it.

the impedance is not the issue, in any case your Pass would be totally unperturbed. when Gary knew i had 100 wpc to play with he said it would be marginal. to prove his point he demo'd with a bel canto 150S and then the 500 monos and the difference was profound. wider and deeper stage, more volume, deeper and tighter bass - it really elevated the speaker quite a bit.
