Job 250 monos amps: absolutely wonderful ...

No, unfortunately not. I have not heard any of the First Watt gear from Nelson.

I was always a little afraid of the power being a little too low for most of my speakers.

I know we have some members here who either own them or have owned them.

Joe, have you listened to a Pass F6 ?

You are missing out on something very very special Joe. These amps are so truthful and real sounding that one would question the existence of other amps around. If you biamp with these amps it will never seem out of breath. As a single stereo amp it may show its limitation but that also if you drive very hard. But the kind of realism and truth that comes across makes one forget all about tubes, ss, set, push-pull etc.

And yea, it doesn't sound like any of the typical pass labs products. Those pass labs XA series amps sounds like any other amp. It is the first watt which is amazing

+1 on all recommendations.

As the Job mono's have an input sensitivity of only .75 volts the preamp will need to be low gain like your Ayre. Likely candidates would be to me Linear Tube Audio, Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE Stage 2, Backert Labs Rhumba or maybe even the Don Sachs Model 2 which has adjustable gain. When I was using the Job stereo amp I had to buy a used STP-SE to work with it as all of my tube preamps had way to much gain which is usually the norm rather than the exception. How much savings any of these will get you over the sale of your used Ayre is yet to be seen.

THE JOB 250

A Professional Ultra-High Speed Mono Amplifier

The latest addition to the JOB amplifiers family is the mono version of the family.
The JOB 250 is a Mono block of 250W in a reasonably small chassis, only slightly higher than the JOB 225.
Totally protected, easy to use, perfectly silent, it is THE amplifier for an audiophile who is conscious of his budget but demanding the absolute best of the world in sonic quality and having speakers very demanding in power.
With its extraordinary dynamic capability and its unconditional stability, it can drive anything.
More, with the JOB proprietary "Ultra-Control" of the drivers, any speaker even a large one will sound better when used with the JOB 250.
With extremely low distortion, especially IM distortion, literally zero group delay distortion, ultra-wide MegaHerz bandwidth and DC coupling, extreme silence and cool operation, it can be played at high level with the same impression of ease than at low levels.
Thanks to the JOB Electronics large scale of operation on power amplifiers, the JOB 250 is also offered at a realistic price, where high-end audio manufacturers would charge $6'000 to $15'000 if the same amplifier were sold through the traditional channels.

Appears that the 250 mono is discontinued. At least they have romoved it from website...
Probably there will be something new for replacement I suspect?

Hmmmm, I sure hope something is coming to replace them and not be discontinued altogether.

Well what i am hoping for is to make a new version of 225 which can be bridged easily by a switch. That makes the product line simpler and thus good for job too.

I just sent an email to Job. I don’t think they will spill any beans but I hope there’s a new model coming at the very least.

Hi Guys, first post here ;). I too contacted Job today very coincidently about the absence of the 250 mono's. Now I see why. A friend highly recommended the Job 225 as well. I never heard of Job before, but based on the reviews, seems like an awfully good amps for the money.
(Also coincidently, I have a LTA MZ2 as a pre too ;) , Tidal Piano speakers and a Holo Audio Spring L3 dac right now. I'll just follow along now lol

The Job 250 monos are better amps, can drive more speakers and sound amazing. I sure hope there’s an update coming.

Yes Joe, they should be.
I have a nuforce STA200 which is basically based on 225 - very vibrant sound, full of drive, very clean but never harsh or edgy or lean
However I cannot say it's a mellow and warm one, so I guess paring is still important.
