Gearing up this week for some R&R in Stowe Vermont. Heading up Saturday and staying until the next Sunday. We are fortunate that we have friends who own a large condo just off of Mountain Road less than 1 mile from the main Downhill location. The condo property has acres of trails and meadows that we usually break our own trail with Snow Shoes or Skis. The oldest X-Country resort in the USA is just above us up the same road a mile as well as several other groomed areas and lots of places to just break trail.
On the Beer front, the last several years we have stood in ridiculous lines and drove great distances to procure the liquid gold know as Heady Topper by the Alchemist. This year there is another local brew challenging the Topper's greatness. Lawson's Sip of Sunshine is the new craze only sold locally and is pretty much similar to the Topper but has a more fruity (grapefruit/pineapple) finish.
I also have a bottle of Wild Turkey American Honey, which is good on the rocks or dropped right into a beer. We take enough food to cook for everyone 4 or 5 days and this year I am lugging the Pressure Cooker with us and a nice Pork Roast as well as a Pasta night with our home made sauce and meats, home made Chilli and more.
Hopefully the snow base holds up this week as we warm up in PA for the big meltdown of last weeks 10+ inches and the rest of the frozen mess of a winter we had here.
Cheers!
