This one stung a bit. I've been playing Yes for the last couple of hours. It is with great sadness I announce here that Chris Squire, Bassist and co-founder of the mighty Prog Rock band Yes, passed away peacefully this morning from a rare form of Leukemia. He was 67. He is survived by his wife and kids.

The band is deeply saddened.

I understand that Chris was one of the most accessible members of the band and enjoyed meeting fans. He often made sure orders from the Yes merchandise shop went out without trouble from what I have heard. In fact, there are a few UK customers whom received personal phone calls from Chris when ever there was any delays or hiccups in the post.

A little more sting than I knew = The rock stations have been playing Yes songs one right after another in big blocks (at least 4+ songs in a row). One station played Yes for 4 hours plus straight with no breaks except the occasional ID.

Yes is one of my all time favs. In fact, it was through them that I also got more interested in classical music.

I just saw this a few minutes ago on another site and am deeply saddened. Chris Squire and Jon Camp were the whole reason I started to play the Bass and bought a fret-less Rickenbacker Bass.

I will be spinning lots of Yes this week.

Hey Chris-

I will remember you

Your silhouette will charge the view
Of distance atmosphere
Call it morning driving thru the sound and even in the valley
In and around the lake
Mountains come out of the sky and they stand there........

RIP and thanks for the memories.
:(

Too bad he will never get to see Yes get into The R&R Hall of fame (hopefully). RIP Chris.
