Is the new Shunyata X line more open without the viel? Like the Niagara 5000 openess?

In this video a Niagara 5000 was compared to the Shunyata Denali 6000t. I thought the Shunyata was more holographic. But it also sounded like a viel was on it. The Niagara sounded more open and more forward. Overall, the Niagara 500 sounded way better to me.

I was wondering... has anyone heard the new Shunyata X line to compare to the Niagara 5000? I was wondering if Shunyata’s new tech. would of gotten rid of that slight viel covering sound and more open like Niagara?

What cables were used on each? I think of these as a power subsystem, not just a power distributor/conditioner.

Several years ago I switched from a Niagara 5000 with Hurricane PCs to a Denali 6000S V2/Sigma V2 XC with Alpha N/R V2 cables. The impetus for the switch was a low level hum emanating from the the 5000 (on a dedicated 20 amp line) that just wouldn't go away. The Shunyata subsystem was noticeably quieter with a reduction in treble glare. I have since upgraded the Denali to an Everest-X/Sigma-X XC with improvements across the board, especially dynamics. Happy Shunyata customer here. My system, my ears, YMMV.

Strange, there was another Jays Audio video where he complained about the same hum on the 5000. On that video where it was the 5000 versus the Denali 5000T they were the same cables used. But I just can't get over how stuffy the Denali sounded compared to the 5000.

I noticed a quieter listening environment (with no hum) and less glare, treble harshness. Did not notice the veiling you describe. I'm describing two subsystems (not two power conditioners) that I lived with for quite a while, not an afternoon comparo. You didn't answer my earlier question: what cables were attached to each distributor during the comparison?

One additional comment regarding Shunyata's X PCs. When I more recentlly replaced an Alpha V2 NR with an Alpha-X NR on my Esoteric SACD player, big improvement in everything - lower noise floor, more clarity, dynamics. Not something you had to work to hear - evident in the first 10 seconds.

What is the difference between a "power subsystem" and a "power distributor/conditioner?"

The power subsystem consists of the distributor/conditioner and the attached power cables, the one feeding the d/c from the wall and the attached ones feeding components.

DC from your wall?
