It's a bit techy, but quite interesting. It's from 2002 so not sure if some/most/any is still valid, but thought I'd share nonetheless.
Makes me wonder if the seemingly endless amounts of "sampling and processing" that current designs/gear are capable of if there can be any true improvement upon the original formatted signal. E.g., take a std Redbook CD and output to an external DAC...the DAC does all of it's sampling/processing then outputs an analog signal.
Is the net resulting analog signal just a different interpretation / flavor that may or may not contain more distortion or "noise" that our ears find appealing?
