Integrated Amplifier for horn speakers

The Fynes are Tannoy based offshoots. Larger single driver, perhaps with coaxial tweeter. They are mounted in cabinet that enhances bass through the bottom. There are different terms through the ages - transmission line, etc. But, I don’t think they are the “folded horns” like the smaller full range driver setups.

Thank you Mr. Peabody,
I sold the speakers today, he is coming up this weekend to pick them up a 3 hr drive. So I am on the hunt , starting over is a lot of fun..lol
Teac, that doesn’t sound crazy now that I think about it…speakers boy that’s a challenge when you can’t listen first…stay with me durning the hunt…I will need all the guidance I can get from everyone…yes on the Pass Labs XA-25 I am taking it with me to the grave…
Which one would you take the Fyne or Harbeth
Is the TEAC numbers UD-701N or TEAC VRDS-701

I visited Mikes shop and was thinking about buying a pair of Fyne 701's. We compared them to a pair of Harbeths (I can't remember the model but they were big) and there really was no contest, the 701's and even the 502sp's sounded way better, fuller, smoother, more depth, slightly warmer. A Luxman Integrated was used and an Aqua Formula DAC. Unfortunately, COVID started and I was furloughed to part time as all of my partners were, ( I am an ER and UC doctor) as I was working in the Urgent Care. We went from seeing over 100 patients per day to about 10 as people were afraid to come in and catch COVID. So I held off from buying a $10K pair of speakers.

Thanks Mechnutt , valuable information, I sure like the look of the Classic Line, being 73 that’s definitely my style..takes me back to the 1970s when my father-in-law took me to the Phase Linear factory and we picked out a preamp and amplifier, he knew Bob Carver. I think I still had the JBL L100 back then, time has flown by…
So far it’s the TEAC UD-701N, Pass Labs XA-25 amplifier, speakers ?
This is the kind of music I listen to…at 73 I need a non fatiguing speaker and lucky me I can listen to music all day and night when ever the mood strikes me…winter is coming to the Pacific Northwest of Washington state so that’s all day listening..

Just watched Hans Beekhuyzen on the TEAC UD-701N sure looks well built..for $4300

And it sounds like it as well.

For electronic music have a look at the JBL HDI series, they really perform out of their range and you'd love them with Electronic music, bass is deep the horns are smooth. I heard the 3800's driven by a Hegel 590 and was impressed with how well the 3800's sounded with an amp of that level. If you really want to have fun look at the JBL L150 which is a new vintage replica with 15" woofer, talking about Electronica. JBL's Synthesis models use Pro style compression drivers I find them absolutely pristine and not fatiguing as long as you are using good electronics. I'm not having an issue and I use Levinson. The difference as well between JBL and brands like Klipsch or Volti, JBL's bass is a more deep visreal bass. Depending on model you may need a sub for that last octave, I'm not saying they play low but they absolutely pley deep. You may have to hear them to get the difference I mean. Some of the JBL can be purchased online from places that will allow a return if you should want to entertain my suggestions. I'd have to double check the L150 may include a control for the tweeter, I believe the newer L100 does.

I don't know the ins/outs of the Fyne. They were started by former employees of Tannoy. Technically not a horn but more of a coaxial type config. I've only heard them with PrimaLuna, the combo was quite musical.

As mentioned in another post with Pass and a proper speaker you shouldn't be having glare.
